http://www.twtd.co.uk/ipswich-town-news/23529/carson-leaves-town VERY VERY promising player, however, pretty much skydived as soon as he made it into the team. Under Jewell, he really did look set for a bright future. Full international, likened to George Best, good dribbler/ shooter, what went wrong? This. -Too big a wage WAY too soon. -Being legally old enough to drink. -Agent demanding way too much £££££. What do we reckon he was on p/w? Before anyone says £300 - £500, it is definitely going to be 4 digits. I honestly believe Josh Carson could have been on anything up to around £6000 p/w. Anyone have any insider knowledge as to his wages? It must be large, otherwise we would not have paid him off. Absolute shame. Had he not been so poorly advised, and had he not believed the hype surrounding him, I have no doubt whatsoever we'd be lucky to still have him. This does, however bring me to this. YET ANOTHER PLAYER we have paid up and allowed to leave for ££££. No wonder we're in such a financial mess, how many players has this happened with now!?!?!? I know we needed JET off the wage bill, however I'm sure many a club would have had zero trouble selling him on for £300- £500k or so. Why are we such a pathetically easy target and a soft touch. It really does irritate me.
Is a shame but not surprising, poor attitude. It will frustrate me though if he signs for someone this evening, why are we not selling? Although in saying that, I suppose technically we did sell JET, just for a player not money.
Hiya Westy, I for one wish Josh well for the next stage of his career, the abiding memory is when he hit the winner at Ashton Gate a couple of years ago. Why hasnt he kicked on? another Jamie Peters maybe? they appeared to have what it takes and now if theyre not careful obscurity beckons, even York City wouldnt take him. By the way Paul you were right Sweden was great.
Big Big shame, when he came on the scene under Jewell he looked one of the best prospects I've seen at Town and our first proper winger in a while and I have absolutely no idea what has happened since, clearly for someone with such talent somethings gone amiss. I always thought he was the better prospect out of him and Wickham. Perhaps the lesson is when we get a player who's shown alot of potential aka Wickham, Garvan, Carson, Bowditch who initially attract the big clubs, sell them for us much as we can!!!!
The point is though, did he have talent, until any player can establish himself in the league, over a number of years, then surely it would be more accurate to say potential talent. In the games I saw him, to me he showed he was promising, but I saw no evidence of any talent. You have to ask yourself if he was so talented, then why he wasn't taken on by one of the teams he was at loan at, and then ended up in Scotland. Seems to me that a lot of reasonable players can play at reserve level, where they might stand out as world beaters, then like Carson get promoted to the first team, score a few goals, and for some reason, think thev'e made it. For me, this guy appeared to have the wrong attitude, and temperament, good luck to him, but feel this was the right decision
I thought you'd like Sweden, it's absolutely fantastic! Peters never impressed me, never got the fuss, however Carson is an absolute waste of ability. Gone completely off the cliff the last 2 years!
carson seems more interested in drinking and partying than football – another wasted career on the horizon. sad to see but he isn't the first and certainly won't be the last
The annoying thing is the 'Josh Carson' that first burst into the first team is probably the type of player we now really need.
