Always maintained Jose bigger than Alex in PL era.
but this season, has turned it upside down.

Jose will never be as lucky as Alex in this times. Dont think he will be able to realize it given the owner, players, board power and in fighting.

Drogs comment about Jose 1st & 2nd stints is not good - however bad Jose has been, Drog is uncalled for.

Something about how Jose's 3 titles had made him a bigger influence on the PL than SAF's 13 titles as SAF was lucky. Then something to do with Drog (I assume Drogba rather than a character from A Clockwork Orange) saying something that the OP doesn't agree with.

I can only guess it's Drogba's recent comments about Mourinho's message getting old and not being special any more in the third season. Which is an interesting comment and hard to dismiss given Mourinho's record in his third seasons.

Either that or something Drogs said on this forum. But if it was that then surely he'd reply to it on the same thread - it takes a Matth level of ego to start a new thread purely to focus attention on your own views when there are many other threads on the same topic...

Either way, I'm sure he's right. Mourinho will never be so lucky as to have two of his rival clubs taken over by multi billionaires with endless funding as his own club is saddled with half a billion quid worth of debt. Only one manager gets that kind of luck and still succeeds <ok>

Rather than turn this into a love fest for Fergie, it does open a potentially interesting debate as to whether certain management styles lend themselves to longevity that others. Does Jose's style bring in more instant results but then become stale and less effective?

The case can probably be made to an extent though it's only probably this year that a team of his has really 'failed' in its third year. We still came 2nd and won a cup double in Jose's 3rd year with us first time around. Not too shabby! In fact United fans would bite your hand off if that was offered to them this year, or last year. or the year before that ;)

Well, with London's Only down the rabbit hole with his fingers in his ears, someone on this board has to bring Utd into every thread!

As an aside it is interesting to see that Stan felt the need to compare Mourinho to SAF. Several of the Liverpool fans have the same tendency when it comes to Shankly and Paisley, which probably tells you all you need to know about that ;)

I think it is an interesting point about Mourinho's style, and how it does seem to grow old with the players, board and sometimes fans within quite a short space of time. Which does make this season and next season very interesting to see if he can turn it around and build some sort of long term success for the club. And more importantly whether he will be allowed to before the trigger is pulled!

The fact he hasn't already been sacked suggests to me that he'll be given the season as long as results don't continue to be as bad as they have been.

Personally I can't see us going on a major run but I think we will win enough points over the coming months to see him safe till the summer.

Then I suspect it may come down to who is available. If a Pep was interested, they may change but not sure they will unless a decent mid-long term alternative is around.

The worry is that this isn't an old squad yet it has fallen very fast. The board may decide that it'll be cheaper changing manager than half the first team if Jose can't get them going again.

Don't think there's much chance of Pep opting for us to be honest; the problem with Jose's team is in defence and attack and until he can resolve those problem areas we'll be doing the mid-table 2 step for the rest of the season.

Today could be Jose's last game.

Anything special planned for the occasion?

I still stand by my comment.

Jose is greater than Alex in most categories.
Unfortunately Jose will NEVER be given free reins to any team in this age.
He will never be as lucky as Alex.
Think if Alex didn't have the authority to ship Roy, David et al and club had too much of a say?
These are the difficult circumstances - Jose is working under.
Without a free rein, Jose will drag our players & team down. End of!!

Unstoppable force vs Immovable object.. Jose vs Modern day football hierarchy!!
