He's a character and I do like to see him about in the Premier League I have to admit. I think he's a bit bonkers and is quite prone to chucking his toys out of the pram if he doesn't get his own way so this will be an interesting one. He's inherited a good squad of players so it will be interesting to see who he wants to bring into the club. I'm sure he was interested in Bale when he was at Man Utd so a dream return to Spurs could be on the cards for Gareth in the January transfer window. I bet Ashley's breathing a sigh of relief this morning knowing that they're not gonna be coming after Bruce for the job!
I can't see it going well but who knows. The vibe I got was that Levy wanted flavour of the months and big names, Pochettino wanted high potential players with a certain mentality. When you look at it like that, Mourinho fits in well. Bale back to Spurs, or Mourinho moaning about signings, come January. One of those will happen I reckon.
If they got Jose they must be about to start throwing some serious money around. Everywhere Jose goes he gets £100,000,000+ every time and I can't see him going to Spurs to faf about with Levi trying to negotiate a Co-op meal deal into the transfers. Could be interesting times for Spurs going forwards and a new order to the EPL if they work it well. Future top fours between City, Liverpool, Spuds, Leicester and Chelsea while ManU and Arsenal drift further away getting overtaken by the likes of Wolves and Everton.
Everyone is saying it's gonna be a disaster. So it will probably go well. I think everyone needs to remember at exactly which clubs Mourinho has been successful at, He has a habit of going to clubs that haven't done much and gets them winning trophies. Chelsea before Jose had barely won a thing, considered a decent top 4 side and needed a little investment. He made them unbeatable. Porto had struggled to catch Benefica in the league, he turned them into champions league treble winners who were undefeated at home for over a year. Inter Milan were not Italian giants, certainly not close to winning a ****ing treble and beating Barca away so clinically. Jose came and boom. Real Madrid and Man Utd were not Jose clubs, and upon his return to Chelsea that club had changed. Although he always wins trophies the players at the top top clubs are pampered and unwilling to graft they never bought his style. I think Spurs are hungry for success, the squad will be excited he's coming in as they know his record. The club has a real opportunity to go on and win silverware now,and I think it will be one of his greatest successes if he gets them winning. Could be a match made in heaven.
Yeah but like but.. . It isn't just a case of a few recent mishaps, it's that he's lost the plot ever since the female doctor debacle. He's gone from being arrogant but icy cool, to an embarrassing loose cannon, and nothing suggests he recaptured his former calm.
Good post. It's an interesting combo, I think it could work. He definitely likes to be top dog when it comes to the football side and at clubs like Real and Man U there are loads of other egos and political BS to deal with. I think that stuff does his head in. I don't buy this thing about his methods being passed it. His record is rediculous. Spurs were going to have to buy regardless so he'll get money and if he can galvanise the squad he's got a good gig there.
Literally had two bad seasons, his third at Chelsea (2nd spell), and his final season at Man Utd. People just don't like him, they're desperate for him to fail. I don't think he failed in the slightest bit at either Chelsea or Man Utd, he won the league with one, won a European trophy with the other. It's very clear how good a manager he is when you not winning a Champions League or having an immediate Premier League title every season means you're a complete failure. I personally would have went for a younger manager, but what really boils my piss is that some people think Mourinho is a genuine failure and then say Pep is a ****ing genius. Pep is an overrated crock of **** and hasn't taken on a challenging job in his entire career, I would be very dubious if Guardiola took over at Newcastle following Rafa for christ sake. Don't get it.
Think his two perceived failures at Man Utd and Real Madrid were that the clubs were “too big” for him. I think Spurs could be the ideal job - they are desperate for success, have a squad that needs a change of manager mentality but has the quality and if Levy gives him cash to play with I think they will be up there challenging. However in order to achieve that his first real goal would be top 4 this season, which will need a rapid turnaround in form.
I'm guessing Jose got the job because Rafa turned it down Jose was a phenomenal manager in several clubs. I hope he can refind his mojo at Tottingham, if only for his TV interviews.
They're dominating here. I dunno if it's Spurs have turned it on, or West Ham are truly ****ing dreadful.
Carry on like this and they're bottom three material. Concede goals for fun and haven't got a creative mind in the squad.
