We wondered at the start if the season how long the 'new style' would last when we needed results http://www.standard.co.uk/sport/foo...helseas-style-following-cup-exit-9012372.html
Is the playing style or **** strikers? Eto puts us 2-0 last night and we're in the semi. To often poor finishing has led to more nervousness and issues at the back later in games. Crystal Palace, Stoke, last night cases in point.
agree with above comment We just need to take our chances and hopefully then we will tighten up at the back
I genuinely didn't think we were bad last night. Poor finishing as you said and sloppy defending toward the end.
I think we are also missing that special player that other teams have had the benefit of, rescuing or winning games with moments of brilliance. Aguero, Suarez, even Rooney and of course Bale last season have scored goals out of nothing that we just don't get. Someone like that (Drogba for us in seasons past) can often be the difference between a narrow win and not.
We've got special players 100, Hazard, Mata, Luiz, Oscar, Lukaku. We are just not functioning as a team for some reason, and seem rudderless. What we don't have is power and grunt, or control. We operate on attacks from midfield because the strikers aren't trusted.
Agree, funny thing is that area of the team (the three behind the striker) seems to operate just fine, it's the rest of the side that seem to struggle.
Does Mourinho genuinely consider the football we've been producing these last few months as exciting? You mean it can actually get a lot more boring than this?
