Just a quick one: Obviously he was taken off yesterday as a precaution, but does anyone know how serious it was? Otherwise we are quite short defensively! Thanks.
He tweeted after the match: "Cant tell yet how serious the injury is. Bad enough to make me come off. Arsenal better throughout."
As I was in the home end pretty near the dugout, Adkins asked a couple of times was it alright and Hooiveld looking at his reaction was pretty much saying its not worth continuing, the physio then came out to speak to Jos and I think he was asking him whether he had pulled it or strained it, again Hooiveld looked like he wasn't sure. What was strange when I saw Yoshida getting stripped and ready, Crosby had a massive go at Hooiveld and Jos then went mad at Crosby. It was really strange, not sure what it was over.
Don't wish to seem churlish, but I'm secretly pleased. It got Yoshida earlier into Premier League action than he would otherwise have been, and Jos has undoubtedly been the weaker of the two current CBs in defence, during the last 4 games. Hope he gets fit soon enough though.
Perhaps Crosby thought he should have continued. However, not worth risking as we are so short at CB.
How did Yoshida play? My link kept playing up, I saw a few praising him but he was responsible for two of the goals.
Think it's better not to start attributing blame after that game. As Cortese said we win together and we lose together. Season starts now.
I sort of felt sorry for him because he came on in the worst possible way, Arsenal were really stepping it up with wave after wave of attack, so gave him no time to settle into the game. Few nerves to start off with and was at fault for Gervinho goal, but as the game moved on I thought he really showed a little bit of class, didn't dive into tackles made sure he stayed on his feet. Likes to drive forward with the ball and has a good passing range on him. Plus he definitly loves a bicycle kick Obviously this is only one game, but for someone whose only trained ONCE with the team I thought he did ok!
For Gervinho's first, he's a yard higher than all the other defenders, presumably trying to catch him offside. Breakdown in communication obviously. Early signs seem that he's got his head screwed on though. Midfield and defence were pulled all over the place by Arsenal, so not the best time to judge.
Agreed, but until January, that's what we've got, unless some miraculous out-of-contract thing happens.
Yoshida and Ramirez look like two quality signings. I'm very excited about these two add a little bit of Mayuka in there and we've got some great player in midfield and attack. We've got a very decent team, more than capable of staying up.
