Superb occasion saturday and a privelege to support this Swans group. The mighty Man Utd won the game but this Swans side are growing game on game. They deserved a point against Giggsy & Co .

But it's magnificent that the Liberty is staging such an occasion, that we have a blueprint that gives us a great chance as a club to compete at this highest level. And it's refreshing that many are recognising and enjoying our football (and the Swansea Bay area :) ).

Now as Rodgers preaches we have to show the steel and find that cutting edge in front of goal.

Probably as much chance of Sinita picking up 5 stars in a bush tucker trial....but I'd like to see us go in for Jordi Gomez.

He had his breakthrough with us and would give us a stronger goal scoring threat from midfield. There's probably a few 'Pilkington's' lurking in championship & legue one but Gomez would have that extra quality to make the penalty area on the counter attack and finds himself getting chances. Ben Watson much in that mould too.

A match fit Bodde or Dobbie would be better but let's hope the new scout gets the midfield man who can give this strength in depth

There are a couple things about Gomez, he hardly gets a game for Wigan and when he does start he gets subbed, there is a reason for that I think, yes not in a real good team, but perhaps he is not premier league class ?

Also most annoying is his diving, he tried it on our game with wigan at the liberty , he was on his arse more than on his feet, and he was doing it all the time whilst with us.

    In a word - NO!

Gomez is a class, flair player and he got player of the year at the Liberty because of this. We'd all agree on the diving...not in our culture.

Actually, there's Keith Andrews as well -on loan at Ipswich but wants out of Blackburn. One to target ?

Oh, and if the unthinkable happens and one of our pace merchants leaves (ie Dyer to Liverpool ) then Albert Adomah and Maynard of Bristol City are getting great reviews

Gomez is like Dobbie for me. Brilliant at Championship level, mediocre and, at worst, a potential liability in a three man midfield at PL level. If no-one else was available, then maybe, but I don't fancy Gomez back at the Liberty one bit.

Yes he was in the championship, but we have come up a league now and so has he, but I don't think he has made the step in level that was expected of him, there is a reason for his lack of game time, and I think that is it.

Martinez was raving about him when he was with us and took him to Wigan, looking at wiki he has played 43 games in total in two and half seasons, so has featured in less than half the games, looking back on this season he has been subbed on every game I saw.

Sorry but I just can't see him fitting in.

jackofdreambeach - you make some good points, but have to disagree with your point on Dobbie at the moment - this season he really has not been doing it for me, when ever he's on he seems to be lost and lacking contribution.... <ok>

Jager- what you say about gomez at Wigan is exactly what they were saying about scott sinclair when he was There , i Think he could do a job for us but im not sure if his work rate would suit brenden or not. I was told many months ago that gomez would love to return here but i guess that its up to all parties to make a del happen at the right price.

Dobbie ,well i love the player and Think he has talent, not quite sure if he can bring his form from last season but There Are reasons for this i guess. Buck hasnt been picking him maybe because he is being out done in training? What ever the reason i just back the manager on it, he is boarderline in bucks plans by the look of it.

Brenden seems to like pace in the team not sure if dobbie or gomez has enough of that for buck :)

Dobbie will struggle to do anything this season if he only gets 15 minutes at the end of a game from time to time.

I would start him against Fulham and give him a full game - then at least he has had a decent chance.

Tend to agree that Dobbie isn't doing it right now. But think on. His season has totally been stop start through injuries and the bench. Players need game time to get up to speed and he's not been getting that.

At the top of his game he is an asset - sees cute passes to set others up and loves a shot at goal. Pace isn't always the B all and end all of a player's game. Look at Charlie Adam along with many others in the PL who make an impact but do not have pace.

I like the guy but I do think he has it all to prove. He should bite the bullet and try and buy in to what Buck is demanding of him because if he does get a run, he might come good.

I think Dobbie is excellent going forward, but where he falls down is he's not a natural midfielder. The other 2 of the midfield 3 could "carry him" (little harsh, but best way of describing it) in ther Championship, whereas we've seen at PL level if we haven't got 3 CM's committed to the cause of tracking back/breaking up play/retaining possession then we struggle to control the midfield. As someone said, we were good second half until Gower came off, at which point we lost control of the midfield. I don't know what the answer is, and lately I'm less convinced it's Augustien too, to be honest. Joe Allen has excelled in the more advanced position and I think that's the most natural position for him, which leaves Leon and one other. Gower is doing a job at the moment, but I would like to see us bring in another midfielder who can do "a bit of everything" to provide competition.

i think gomez coming back here would bring the best out of him, wigan don't play the same as us(similar but not the same) gomez is the exact player we need to play along side joe and leon, good at set pieces and can pick a pass and is not afraid to go down at the slightest chance(he use to get us a lot of free kicks)

When Gomez was here, he spent alot of time playing on the right wing under Bobby Martinez. It says alot that he was considered too lightweight and lazy to play in the middle for the Swans in the championship. He did sometimes produce some magic for us when he played, but he is a country mile away from what we need at the moment. I would wager alot of money that Gomez will never play in a Swans shirt as long as Brendan is manager. I would rather play Jazz Richards in the midfield because at least he gives you 100% every game.

Norway I am not sure he could do a job for us to be honest, still the only way to be sure 100% is to get him here to see, the problem with that it's a hell of a gamble to see if he could do it.

Looking at his situation at Wigan , he gets games then gets subbed half way through the game, there is a reason for that and I am not sure what that is as I don't pay attention to their team, but if someone is getting subbed all the time it normally means he is not performing, which means do you really want him at our club whilst we are in the premier league ?

Besides that, who would we drop to the bench for him to play ? And if he was to come it will need to be on a free as I can't see us paying money for him.

Gomez seems to only play now and again and that must be suspect, we need better and i dont think Gomez is any better than what we got so there is no point in going for a bit part player...
