I have been aware that Pickford has been doing really well for Preston in his loan spell there so far. Read below and then click the link to read the comments by the Preston fans. I'm sensing we have a real star on our hands. I'm very excited by this, future England goalkeeper? ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Reported Aston Villa and Spurs target Jordan Pickford produced another superb display for Preston North End on Tuesday. Preston North End recorded a 1-1 draw against Bristol City on Tuesday night, making it just one point from a possible 12 for manager Simon Grayson. Neil Kilkenny stunned his former club with a superb long range strike to give North End the lead, but Aaron Wilbraham's powerful header late in the game meant the two newly-promoted clubs shared the spoils at Deepdale. It could have been so different though, as Bristol City were piling the pressure on the Preston goal late on, only to run into Lilywhites goalkeeper Jordan Pickford. The 21-year-old is on a season long loan from Sunderland, and whilst he had a huge act to follow in Manchester United's Sam Johnstone, who also spent time on loan at Deepdale last season, Pickford has proven his worth already this term. The England Under-21 international had produced a number of superb displays, and that was once again the case on Tuesday night, just days after The Sun reported that Aston Villa and Tottenham are looking to sign the goalkeeper. Pickford made four saves, including a match-saving one to deny Kieran Agard late on, and also claimed a whopping seven crosses in a man of the match display. Preston fans took to Twitter after the game to praise Pickford's display, with one fan even branding his showing 'a goalkeeping masterclass' - which will surely please Sunderland fans as their young star gains valuable first-team experience. Here are some of the reactions from Preston fans on Twitter after Pickford's man of the match performance against Bristol City... http://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2015/09/1...n-twitter-to-jordan-pickfords-goalkeeping-ma/
Very, very encouraging to hear mate. He was on loan last season at Bradford league 1 yeah? Well it's nice to see him stepping up a division and cementing his place!
Very surprised Mannone stayed on our books mate, thought the young fella would be no 2 this season. It's a big Up from the academy!
Glad he has got a contract with us until 2018, cos he will be getting plenty of attention if he continues as he has been. Btw, does anyone know what his distribution is like ? It the one weakness that Pants has got imo, so would be nice to have a GK who distribute the ball as well as being excellent in all the other areas.
Glad he's playing and not just on out bench for now. Hopefully he comes back when he's ready to challenge for a spot and not just to sit on the bench. Not like you can bring a keeper on as a sub to give them minutes.
Great to hear. I'll admit id wrote the lad off as another Ben Alnwick. Just looked too small to make it as a top pro. Hope I continue to be proved wrong.
