Can be a match winner but is way too inconsistent and his head goes down too easily imo. As others have said, he may have found his level.
Yeah, one good performance in the Championship doesn't change my opinion that he is a terrible professional.
No worries Penfold, always knew he was a superb Championship footballer. Good luck for the rest of the season, see you next year maybe
Obviously playing at a lower level but do think he has improved since he arrived. Also think a lot of this is down to Rafa. We've had some great managers in my time of watching the Toon but Rafa has impressed me tremendously in the short time he's been here. Very confident of promotion and hopefully the Swans will pick up and still be in the PL when we get there so I can get some wumming revenge on Vallery Grad. Seriously, I do hope you pick up as there are quite a few teams I would much prefer to go down than Swansea. Have a soft spot for Wales due to holidays in Aberystwyth as a kid and just outside Swansea when my kids were "kids" and the 1970's Welsh RU team most of which I can still name without any help from Google.
Penfold you will have no problem getting back up and I am extremely confident that we will still be in the PL. It will be interesting to see who comes up with you though.
I am a bit suprised Rafa stayed, obviously Newcastle are a big club but just wasn't sure he would want to stay and fight for promotion in the Championship. Looks like he's got them heading in the right direction after a bumpy start, seems they're starting to show their class now. On Jonjo, we got very good money for him and had we forced him to stay we'd have seen more performances like his infamous Oxford dislplay. Enjoy him while things are going well!
The theory on Tyneside as to why Rafa stayed was the reaction from the fans was the deciding factor but obviously not the only factor. It's said Rafa wants to be where he is loved and appreciated and he is here which isn't too surprising when you consider how he is in comparison to some of the idiots we've had as manager in recent years.
Agree with this. ^^^^ I was amazed Rafa stayed as he's way too good a manager for the Championship. As for Jonjo, I also agree that he was hopeless for us towards the end of his time here and clearly wasn't happy. A good deal all round.
Jonjo useless for us ??? He scored some great goals that won us matches and he has been MOM on a few occasions so if that is rubbish i dread to think of our players today...........Just because the toon were relegated does not instantly lower their standard of play...The toon has a number of premiership standard players in their side including Jonjo who is having a good season........Is Rafa a lower league manager because he decided to stay with the toon ? Of course he is not, He stayed because he is with a massive club and the money is not an issue being a multi millionaire already.....He would never ever give our club a second thought as we are not big enough just like most of the other premiership clubs...
