Did many of you guys see the game last night? He really went through the emotions - but think he has come out with his reputation enhanced. A lot of dues paid by fellow footballers, pundits and journos. It takes a big character to come out in the second half and play the way he did. Was very proud watching him respond to his mixed first half, and his lay off for Michu was quality.
The assist he got for Michu's goal was class... Almost like Hernandez's backwards headed goal against Stoke in his first season. That first mistake could have happened to anyone and it was only because Sturridge showed great awareness at what could happen (most Strikers probably wouldnt have done what he did) and with Moses' goal why didnt a defender just take him out before he could shoot (even if it meant giving away a cheap free kick) Showed a lot of bottle coming out doing the Interview, have barely ever seen that from a player before
99/100 times, that back-pass would have been cleared by the keeper. As A4L says, it was Sturridge's vision that led to the goal. Again, as A4L points out, the second pass was poor, but the goal could easily have been avoided if a tackle had gone in earlier. Jonjo's performance was a joy to watch; he is an England star in the making, and must go to Brazil next year. I loved the way he sat back in the libero role, and then seemed to pop up from nowhere to create chances and generally cause problems to Liverpool. Last night's match was terrific to watch. Swansea play some beautiful football and deserved to win.
Ponders, you seem very sure that England olayers will be going to play football in Brazil next year. We've now played Moldova and San Marino twice, so the last two games will probably be draws.
Oops, I forgot to say 'if' we get to Brazil, Ken. You are right, of course: our qualification is far from secure.
