Sows real potential in my opinion. has a decent long pass on him which we'll use as part of our plan B next season
I think he's starting to show more quality with each game he plays. Has a good range of passing, good technique and he's not afraid to show it, gets stuck in and can physically challenge. I believe he is a better player than Spearing but Spearing shows a bit more composure on the ball, and hopefully Jonjo will develop this.
He hasn't played as much as Spearing,He's more silky than Spearing but at the moment Spearing has the better engine.
Someone on here compared Shelvey to be another Jamie Redknapp.Fair assesment. He needs to add energy to those silky skills.I reckon through hard work he can improve in those areas. Its the easier part to improve.
He's only young, but if he can add energy and aggressiveness to his obvious skill, then he'll be a fine player.
Judging by what I saw at Craven Cottage last week, Shelvey has the 'hollywood' skills but lacks a good basic skillset. His first touch was pretty horrible. Jay Spearing looked far better throughout that game. Maybe Shelvey will come good, but at the moment he's nowhere near as good as he seems to think he is.
to be fair he hasn't had a start yet and spearing is like 4-5 years older than him, i think if gerrard tutors him he has the potential to be a great player
this. he needs to get a few starts under his belt to get some match quality rather than being a 15 minute sub at the end of the game
