I've been keeping an eye on our Hot prospect for the last few weeks since he's been on loan - many a late night watching the Football League Show and reading the Blackpool match reports and I've been loving what I've been seeing. From all accounts the lad is putting in some real top draw performances, running midfield, creating chances and chipping in with goals. Blackpool v Bristol City report Leeds v Blackpool report I'm looking forward to having the lad back in the Red Strip - I think he'll help to push Charlie Adam and Steven Gerrard hard for the central berth. Do the Seasiders have any thoughts on the lad?
He has asked them. It's a cross thread. I think he will come back next season ready to fight for a place.
Don't think there'll be many, if at all, Blackpool fans replying though! Their board is a ghost town.
luv - he's only on a three month stint, so he'll be back in January, hopefully with another hattrick, having created a hatload and ready to show Adam, Henderson and Stevie how its done... Lucaaas - it does look that way, doesn't it? I just wondered whether any of their three fans had an opinion...
I didn't go to that 5-0 game (thank ****!), but a few on our board did. Put a thread up on there and I'm sure you'll get some replies.
May not be very polite replies. My bird is from Leeds. She went ballistic. She didn't know Jonjo was on loan from us.
I think so. Never been to one of your games so it's hard to say. You've been competing for honours with them for longer than we were so that makes it more competitive, but I think ours is more intense between the fans on the day. Difficult to say really.
I say we ought to offer Blackpool the chance to have him for the rest of the season. In no way, shape or form am I disrespecting Blackpool, Jonjo Shelvey or anyone else but I think the lad is young and could benefit greatly from first team football for a full season. I would never want to rush a player in if I was manager and I'm sure KK would feel the same, players need to slowly intregrate and I think Jonjo has really been showing some fantastic potential. Blackpool would surely love to have him on after his performances and one good season of first team football followed by a full pre-season and we could really see some more flashes of this lad. Bringing him straight back would pressure him into re-producing his finest form every time he plays, something we have been doing too much with a few of our players (Carroll, Henderson etc.)
I fully agree. When Arsenal sent Wiltshire out on loan it made him become what he is now. Shelvey could have the same.
100% agree. Like you have said, a full season at Blackpool, playing some decent football, can only help Jonjo progress.
I shall be keeping a closer eye on Shelvey during your loan watch issues from now. Nice work on that by the way
i have to say that the fitness levels we saw in shelvey were awful at the start of the year and a full year in the championship will stand to him big time. we need to get him fit and able to compete in the prem... and henderson and get shut of adam
If he does come back, maybe we should look to loan him out to a PL team - Bolton, Norwich, Wigan etc. Bolton would probably be the best option, if they'd take him.
