BRISTOL CITY: Move to England a dream come true for Jonathan Kodjia By a_Stockhausen please log in to view this image Jonathan Kodjia is relishing the prospect of playing for Bristol City in the English Championship. New Bristol City signing Jonathan Kodjia has described his move to England as a dream come true. Signed from French second tier club Angers for around £2.1 million last week, the 25-year-old striker is determined to follow in the footsteps of footballing heroes Didier Drogba and Yaya Toure. While Drogba and Toure attained Premier League super-star status with Chelsea and Manchester City respectively, Dodjia is looking to establish himself in the Championship following his big move to England. Having penned a three-year deal at Ashton Gate, the Frenchman admitted: "It's a dream for a lot of players in France to play in the English leagues and I am no different. "I looked on the internet and I know the club is getting a new stadium renovation. I know about the big fan-base, the players and the city of Bristol. It's great to join the club. "I am very happy to be here and to meet the manager and the staff." Having scored 15 goals in 29 appearances to help Angers win promotion from Ligue 2 last season, Kodjia hit the ground running when netting a goal on his City debut in a 3-0 pre-season friendly win over Portuguese third tier side Almancilense in Ferreiras last Saturday. He added: "I can run and I enjoy scoring goals. People have said my strengths are my pace and athleticism; - hopefully, that will continue to be the case in England. "I am looking forward to discovering a new country, and on a professional level, meeting my new team-mates and experiencing the competition in the Championship." http://www.bristolpost.co.uk/BRISTO...rue-Jonathan/story-27497736-detail/story.html
This interview is old, we had this the day he signed. Can't blame the post from bringing back old stories though as they have **** all to write about but pages to fill! Nice spelling of Kodjia also....
It's a weird interview to have, since I imagine that he's not actually arrived in England yet. From what I gather, he signed in Portugal and met the players/staff directly on tour. Once we're back from the tour, we'll see just how much he loves Bristol, especially when Autumn comes around...
