Talks between Benfica and Jonas have broken down because of £25,000 per week which doesn't seem much by today's standards and now he favours us. Well 30 seems a touch old to me but let's go with it anyway.

I read a dubious translation of the Portuguese and Spanish reports of this earlier today and I got the impression that talks between him and Benfica are ongoing.
They appear to be offering him a starting place and we're not, so I'd still expect him to join them.
We're probably a handy bargaining chip for him to keep his wages up, though.

I'm not really that bothered either way.
Might give us more competition up top and he knows how to play alongside Soldado, but I'd be slightly concerned that he might slow down Kane's progress.
Knowing us we'll end up with all of our strikers injured though, so it's probably a good idea to get someone in.

Doesn't our squad already have the maximum 17 non home grown players?

That's the exact thought I've been having every time I've seen this mentioned. Of course I don't expect the national papers to check this fact. But we've had a thread going for about three months which points this out, no?

I thought this was about the ex-Newcastle player until I googled "Jonas Tottenham" after PNP mentioned strikers. No to both, I know nothing and less about this Brazilian striker but we have enough already in my opinion.
