Jonas to play for reserves

It has been revealed that Jonas Gutierrez will make his playing return a lot earlier than expected.

After his fight against cancer and recuperation, the Argentinian international ha sonly been back on Tyneside a week.

However, after only a few days training Jonas and his manager have agreed that he will play with the reserves on Monday against West Ham.

Anybody who fancies going – the kick-off is 1pm at Whitley Park.

Alan Pardew;

“I had a quick chat with him (Jonas), and he’s going to play against West Ham on Monday in the reserves.

“That is his first game for a while, he has obviously done a lot of running and been looking after himself.

“He had trained with a team in Argentina with a football but is still a bit rusty with it, that will come.”

Great to have Jonas back in black & white;

“Great for everybody to have him back and also good for everyone to see him back in a Newcastle shirt.

“It will be good if a few of our fans want to travel to the game on Monday.”

Jonas Gutierrez will also have a part to play at the derby on Sunday, the new big screen will feature a message from Jonas to the fans.
