Apparently there is talk, eminating from Carver that Jonas will be given a contract extension.
I have mixed feelings about this.
Emotionally I think it is the right thing to do, but on a pure playing level he isn't good enough anymore.
If we went down then I think he could do a job for sure.
What's your thoughts lads and lasses?

No, regardless of whether we go down or, more likely, stay up.

He wasn't good enough last year and isn't good enough this year. Out with the old and in with the new.

They've lost the plot if they are giving Jonas a new contract IMHO. His legs went a good 2 years ago and we'll not be moving forward as a team if we keep players of his standard on. One of a long list that need culling from the squad.

I can't see it happening, unless there is some clause in his current contract, where the club is obliged to offer him an extension.

Time for Jonas to move on and his wages used to enable the likes of Aaron's to be offered a half decent contract.

Look cancer is horrible and good for Jonas for beating it but he was **** for around 2 years before he had the vile disease and really shouldn't be offered a new contract. The only thing he was good at was diving and getting the odd free kick. All this bollocks about him always giving 110 percent is a load of ****in ****.

No not under any circumstances. Do they have a choice though? Perhaps those rumours about one more game triggering were true...

Ah! So the cancer jumped up on him from the shadows and he was diagnosed there and then with it? For all we know it was an underlying thing for hmmmm those two years where his legs went as he was doing the job of at least 2 Premier league footballers all on his own?! Also, we would get no money for him and so a year extension at half his wages in my opinion is worth it! Far too many other midfielders above him that need to go and ones we could get money for and are probably onhis current wage!

Only as a coach. As a player he simply isn't good enough. There should be no sentiment involved.

I also was wondering if the Cancer had affected his game before he knew he had it?
Now he is well and getting fitter, l can't help but think that maybe he could do a job as a very handy squad player for another year. At least Jonas seems to care about the club and always gave his all, which is more than could be said about the vast majority of lazy feckers we trot out now.

That is the one thing Jonas has going for him - He actually gives a damn. The rest of those lazy and useless muppets need slinging.

Jonas as backup left winger to someone useful like Ayew, no real problem. Jonas as backup to Gouffran or Sammy Ameobi is a huge problem. Jonas starting is a joke.

However, if the only options we have on the wing are Jonas, Sammi & Gouffran, I think Jonas starting becomes much less of a joke and more of a necessity. Gives us more work & desire on the flank and leaves our imaginary left back with a bit of help

Talk about Boycotts, No Ambition, Ashley out etc, and some people would still offer Jonas a further contract.
The club needs a clear out and like it or not that includes Jonas.
    Beggars belief really.
