http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/24565167 Now he is saying," Lansdown insists they will not be spending money to improve their situation." It's all very confusing....
Haven't you found that most things about the way Bristol City go about their business to be confusing wize? I get the distinct impression that the right foot has no idea it even has a left brother. A well organised club will do well but our lot just can't seem to get much right especially in the P.R. department. The life of a Bristol City supporter goes on as it has done for eons.
Listened to his audio again and the clear hesitation when questioned regarding Sean's future may be a portent for the future and quite frankly all I heard was the same old waffle that has been coming from the boardroom for years without any improvement in our lot in the league. Will it ever change?
I think the board is doing something different to what went on before - To me the 5 pillars stuff is pretty clear. There is a difference between making a small amount of funds available and going "gung-ho" and spending money like confetti (which did happen in the past)
The board needs to be sacked, not SOD. I can only hope that the fans realise this, and push for them to go instead of the manager.
I'm not sure about inept overall. He managed Bournemouth and Doncaster. Two clubs with probably little expectation to be fair, although look at where they both are now compared to us !!! The weight of fans expectation is now on him and for various reasons, including lack of funds, he has failed to deliver. As I've put elsewhere, starting from tomorrow I expect 13 points from the next 6 games. Much less than that and he has to go, and the board as well.
The next 5 games are all very winnable- 15 points maximum would make us look quite comfortable- A return based on the season so far would be lucky to see our points haul enter double figures. It could be that these games heavily influence our season
I mean JL is inept, not SOD, who is just tired in my opinion. I am getting very tired of people saying "Look what he did with Doncaster and Bournemouth"... With all due respect to those achievements, they were a LONG time ago in footballing terms! 5 seasons ago he managed that feat... 5 seasons ago we were less than 60 minutes away from playing Premier League football (over achieving I know), with the prospect of a great future, a new state of the art stadium with talks of holding a world cup match there... Now we are almost bottom of league 1, no new stadium, unconscionable debt due to bad decision after bad decision after bad decision with things looking to get worse... To say "look at what he did with Doncaster and Bournemouth" is as relevant as it is to say "Look at what Danny Wilson did with Barnsley"... What has he achieved since? The same as SOD, virtually nothing!
"Lansdown's billionaire father, Stephen, has spent an estimated £50m on the Ashton Gate outfit but they were unable to avoid relegation from the Championship last season". Its not very clear statement as you could read it as they spent £50m last season given that it refers to us being relegated or is it meant to be about since SL took power which in that time we have been relegated twice and promoted in that period. Is that money just on players or does that include the wasted legal funds spent trying to fund his new stadium which would be owned under a holding company he owns. "Lansdown insists they will not be spending money to improve their situation". Does that also means the club will not pay any compensation to remove SOD from his job if results still carry on. I think it leaves us with more questions than answers, so quite poor. Would have been better to say nothing.
