John Eustace set to replace Blackburn head coach Blackburn Rovers have agreed a deal to part company with Jon Dahl Tomasson with ex-Birmingham boss John Eustace set to replace him. Rovers' 2-1 loss at home to struggling Queens Park Rangers on Saturday left them five points above the drop zone. The Dane, 47, had been in charge at Ewood Park since June 2022 but they are without a win in eight league games. Rovers were seventh and two points off the top six on 29 November, but have won just once in the league since. Tomasson, who was appointed by Blackburn having won two Swedish league titles with Malmo, said following their defeat by QPR that the club was in "a very serious situation" when asked whether they were in crisis. His exit comes after he did not complete his pre-match media commitments ahead of their defeat by the R's, which was said to be a club decision. On Thursday it was confirmed that Rovers had failed to sign Orlando City striker Duncan McGuire on loan as the relevant paperwork was not submitted in time - with a similar thing having happened when the club tried to sign Lewis O'Brien last year. Since December's 2-1 win at home to Bristol City - the last time Rovers won in the Championship - the club have lost six league games and drawn twice with their only victories in that period coming in the FA Cup. They will host Newcastle in a fifth-round tie on 27 February. Their poor form comes despite having the league's joint-top scorer, Sammie Szmodics, amongst their ranks, with the 28-year-old contributing 16 goals so far this term. Blackburn host Stoke, who are two places and one point worse off than them, on Saturday.

Ironically sacked by Birmingham, now in a relegation battle, and looking to beat Stoke who are in a relegation battle. If they both lose, and QPR win, they'll absolutely kack their pants. Birmingham were looking good under Eustace and are now desperate for any kind of result. Stoke gave total control to Alex Neil and have paid the price. Which all makes Sunderland look like a very well run club.
