I think we're seeing the reason Jol's been such a successful manager. He may be a neckless wonder, but he stuck his neck out enough to bring in Pogrebnyak and Diarra when about 40 other manager around Europe gave up on them. The insight and or connections to sign those two, plus his restructuring of the offense around Dembele and Murphy, strikes me as genius. I know some of you had doubts about him, particularly before Christmas, but who could have doubts now? Fulham are in 8th and look stronger than at any time I can remember. Three cheers for Jol. 'ipp 'ipp ...
Completely agree, patience in Jol is paying dividends. Once diarra is fully match fit, we're gonna have some selection dilemmas for sure!
I will put my hand up and say not only did I have doubts but that I wanted him gone. HOWEVER - as I have said on here before, I was wrong and you are right DR, especially with regard to his transfers. I was delighted by Diarra joining who I knew from Spanish football to be a top, top player and Pogrebnyak seems a genius buy.
Quite agree - if we keep on playing with the same freedom and confidence then we'll finish at least where we are at the moment, if not a bit higher. I normally can't be bothered with the analysis on MoTD, but seeing the number of passes (25) that led to the fifth goal yesterday was fantastic.
Great to see he's doing well for your lot. It's going to be a hell of an atmosphere when he returns to the Lane on the last day of the season. A few good results is positive but I'm sure he's nowhere near finished with how he wants the squad but his buys have been very impressive so far. Transfers was something he was never given control over with us and it ultimately lead to him being totally undermined by Comolli who gave him an unbalanced squad of players he didn't want. As much as I'd like us to take Dembele off your hands, it'd be refreshing if Al Fayed backs the manager and doesn't start selling off your best players as I think you'll find in the summer that teams won't be making such tentative enquiries and bids for your players.
I agree Yid. Now I hope some of the cynical Fulham fans will really give him support. He's only just getting to shape his team. Not the finished article by a long way, but for a team in transition from Woy's Europa League finalists - i am impressed and optimistic. Cok seems to be able to find a few gems ........must be a joke in there somewhere.
This season was always going to be a work in progress. It's been about confidence, and lets hope the Wolves performance gives the team a boost, and that the good performances become more consistent. Hope we don't lose too many players in the summer, so we keep some continuity in the Team. We do seem to have some good younger players in the wings, but again with the young ones we have to be patient as they will make mistakes, like the Odense game.
