Ahead of his normal press interviews Jol has been talking to the scribe at the Fulham Chronicle and suggesting that Damien Duff could have his contract extended: "FULHAM are weighing up a new deal for veteran winger Damien Duff. The 34-year-old Irishman has clocked up more than 150 appearances for the Whites since his move from Newcastle United in 2009. Duff only signed a 12-month extension back in February to tie him to Craven Cottage until next summer. Boss Martin Jol believes the former Blackburn and Chelsea man could play on beyond the end of the campaign, providing he stays fit. He said: “A few years ago they told me he was quite old – he was 33 – and he's still playing, so I don't know [how long he can go on for]. It was the same with Danny Murphy. Every year they gave him another year, but he was 35 and still one of our best players. He's a true professional. What we will do for him is give him an extension if we feel he can play for another year.” I guess this is Jol taking the 'carrot and stick' approach to urge Damien on rather that just the 'stick' he gave to Kasami and Bryan in similar interviews with the same paper over the last two weeks.
