In his latest internal interview Jol touches on all the points we have been discussing. Great stuff !
Re Richardson's goal - "I was lucky to bring him on". Let's be fair, Maart, you cop the flak when the substitutions don't have an impact and deserve full credit when a substitution makes a big impact. EDIT: I also think he is fully aware of the imbalance between praise and criticism.
I'm not surprised at all. Also, his stance on transfers is abundantly clear. His take on the Riise situation is interesting - it suggests that Riise wasn't happy with being left out, not that he was told he can leave.
I think Jol is something of a typical Dutch businessman. I've always liked dealing with my Dutch clients, because whilst they tend to be far more blunt and hard-nosed in getting what they want they are equally fun to work with once you get used to that style. Most of the "disagreements" with the board don't seem to be substantive at all; Jol has his targets, he is honest about those and it is up to Ali Mac to resolve that with our budgets. There are definitely agents at play complicating the Boateng deal, for instance. And interesting that Jol names Arsenal & QPR as parties pricing us out of the market. Could Arsenal finally be in for M'Vila?
