With Walcott more than likely out of the squad, England's wingers come to Sterling, Lennon, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Young, Johnson, Townsend (off the top of my head anyway) Don't believe Lennon/Young/Townsend are playing much at the moment? Oxlade Chamberlain just came back from injury and get a the odd sub appearance Sterling and Johnson appear to be well in form at the moment and hopefully it lasts throughout until Brazil However should we not try get behind his bid with some kind of chant? Simple one 'Johnson for England' kinda thing?
I seriously hope AJ is on the plane to Rio because to do so he will need to outperform all of those southern based options for the rest of the season and get the likes of Match of the Day on his side. If he manages this we will be comfortably safe with games to spare!!
He needs to keep this form going right to the end of the season to get a sniff.......But I think he has a chance, unlike a certain person on these boards
I hope the next England squad isn't named for ages, I want Johnson to remain hungry for it and I don't want him injured in some rubbish friendly!
If AJ goes to Brazil it will be on the back of a sensational end to his and our season and that's top class for everyone. If we can get lads into the England squad whilst here, it will only enhance our ability to attract better players going forward.
I'm English Stu, I care about my country mate. Good luck to the lad, hope he fulfills an obvious dream of playing for his country at a World Cup tournament
Roy went to see Southampton yesterday. Wasn't interested in watching Johnson. It truly doesn't surprise me! I hope he does go. He certainly, on current form, deserves it. If he goes it may rekindle my international football love as I lost it completely when. Alan Shearer was managing the side on Keegan's behalf
A couple of months ago it started to look as if Adam Johnson didn't have a future with Sunderland, nevermind England, the winger was struggling to make Gus Poyet's starting line-up and couldn't find any kind of form when he did get on the pitch. In the last month however, his form has been sensational. Since the 3-1 FA Cup third round win at home to Carlisle, the 26-year-old has scored seven goals and has four assists in just seven games, which includes a hat-trick away to Fulham and scoring in four consecutive Premier League games. The winger has repeatedly spoken of his desire to play for England again, describing it as 'the best thing of all', and it looks as if his form is going to be rewarded by Roy Hodgson. According to the report, Hodgson has noted the player's scintillating form and is considering giving Johnson a run out against Denmark next month. Despite the England manager previously saying he was finished with 'mass experiments', it's thought the long-term injury to Theo Walcott and the loss of form of Andros Townsend has seen Hodgson look for potential 'wildcards' for the World Cup. A call up for Johnson would be richly deserved based on current form and he could be heading for a second Wembley appearance in the space of a week, with the game against Denmark coming three days after Sunderland's Capital One Cup final appearance against his former side Manchester City.
sorry about that old bean ,heres a clue for you i constantly moaned about adam johnson after spending my money to watch my team play ,has that helped you in your reason why , as a foot note as of late he is worth the entry fee paid .
I may be going against the grain here but I`m with Stu on this one. It may be great to represent your country but Fletcher has never been the same since he came back crocked from international duty. We come first imo.
well pops club always first in my book,as i say im so pleased aj has turned this around and at the moment everything is coming up roses, shame about all the other rubbish on here this weekend at a time we should all be on cloud nine.
Was tasty at Boro, was one of only a few Englishmen capable of displacing some of Man City's expensively assembled team and has so far been really impressive for you lot. I think he really deserves to be in the England squad, unfortunately he doesn't play in London so he's going to have to really work his socks off to get noticed.
Not so long ago, this idea was laughed at, now i'm not so sure. He's certainly on form, if he can keep it up, why not. That means the club are reaping the rewards of his talent.
