Adam Johnson is not in the squad for todays season opener?

Is he at the AOL having a brew with MoN already?

Our 2 most linked targets - Fletcher and Johnson - now both havent started for their respective clubs and imo, the next 2 or 3 days could see some exciting movement on the transfer front for us.

We could really have a good looking team next saturday tbh.

    -------------Sess

    McLean Colback Seb Johnson.

Seb cant play central Mons. He was lost there yesterday.

I'd sooner see him on the right with AJ on the left with Sess and Catts in the middle, with Fletcher and Berbatov up front (greedy aint I? lol)

Jimmy needs a new motivation to keep him developing and a spell on the subs bench wont hurt him. He looked well off the pace as well and didnt take his man on once on the whole game.

I think Seb's long term future is in the middle. He lacks pace to be a genuine winger. However he can ping a pass. Is good on the ball etc.

Maybe part of a midfield 3 for now.

In many games this season I see us playing 1 up top.

Sorry kidda but he was like a spare prick at a wedding in the centre yesterday and his lack of pace was exposed even more. At least out wide he can deliver quality crosses which Campbell will never be able to do in that role.

I think it would be a huige error to stop him from playing in his natural wide position personally. I think if we signed Johnson he could play centrally as he has the pace to go past players but not Seb.

I disagree Cest (and agree Tony!), I think for the most part he'd be excellent in there.

We'd have awesome pace down both wings, and Jack can sit deep & come forward, Sess being behind a striker would effectively create a free man (most teams would simply have to double up on Sess in a free role), giving Seb time to pick passes.

Obviously, certain teams, he'd get swamped out in the middle, but his best game in the shirt came in CM, away to City, he scored 2, one due to a fantastically timed run into the box, which he simply couldn't have made from the right side.

Teams would be concerned with Jimmy, Johnson & Sess, leaving Seb with space, and what Seb can do is pick a pass in space, I think that team would work brilliantly, for the most part.

If we could sign both of them there better be at least 45,000 for the Reading game, he would rather go to a club on the up!.

I agree with Monsmush and Tony, I thought he was excellent in the middle.

As for Johnson I am sure I just heard in the Man City commentary that Johnson is going to Everton something to do with the deal for Rodwell but I could be way off the mark as I was not really listening because I had the Henry on giving our spare room a quick vac.

Hopefully he will talk to his mate Stewart Downing about the "benefit" of signing for them. He will just get a different coloured bench to warm.

First team football with us and a chance to resurrect his England career by performing week in week out.

Did I hear the Sky commentary team say that Johnson could be part of the Rodwell deal to go to Everton, or did I mishear it?

Friggin hope I misheard it. Lol

Also, was that AJ sitting next to Brendan Rodgers today as well? Mmmm!

There was a clause in the Rodwell deal that Everton have first refusal if AJ goes out on loan, it doesn't apply to a permanent transfer.

I'd assume City prefer to sell, so I think we'd pip Everton.

Ah, that makes sense then. £10m for AJ; £12m/£14m for Fletcher and maybe a few bob on a couple of others and this nonesense about us having no money/short not backing Mon will be put to bed.

Did you hear that dumb prick Collymore on talk sport (I guess not in Spain lol) last night? He was trying to suggest that there was already trouble in the Sunderland camp between MoN and Short over money.
