Well according to reports Liverpool are lining up a 16million bid for Johnson.

Now while I rate Johnson, I would not pay 16million for him - and surely Liverpool won't after paying 20million twice and 35million on 'young' english talent.

Now I would really love this guy coming to us, but if they asked for 16million I reckon MON would laugh at them - more like 10million max.

I was thinking maybe we can do a swap for Sess?? I would be happy with that.

TBH I would love him here but it was always a very, very long shot, right now I just wish he would sign for someone so we don't get the 2012 version of N'Zog.

Mceady is a far more viable bet and would do me, at least MON Knows him and we know he can get the best out of him.

I reckon we will go for McGeady instead for £8m to £9m. He can play both wings and will be more affordable.

£16m for Johnston is far too rich imo. He isn't even a man city regular and only cost them £7m 18 months ago.

I would be very happy with Mcgeady Cest, just seems a better fit for us all round.

I agree mate. I think it's been McGeady all along, as he is a character and player known very well by Martin already.

It's why Cuellar and Agbonlahor are also main targets imo as well.

I dont mean this in a negative way but we got Bent, top striker but he buggered off, Gyan, top striker but he buggered off. A top name and a Johnson may excite more but a Fletcher and a Mceady feel better, feel more Sunderland and right now we need Sunderland type players.

We do need to sign players that will be here more than 12/18 months.

I wonder if Bent ever wonders what if? Lambert will be good for him if he brings in Holt though and Fletcher and Agbonlahor will be good for us imo too.

Maybe Bent will go to Hull, they are pretty big on the east coast, well the top end of the east coast between Scarborough and Grimsby.

That logic seems to be fair....

I would be delighted with McGeady. He is a starting for Ireland, MON knows him. He can use both feet and play on both wings. He is mixed bag and has flair.
Agbonlahor again would be awesome as he has worked with MON in the past.

Also 16million is too pricey for someone who has hardly played a full game for 18 months. I can also imagine him dropping us as soon as he got his career back on track.

Nowt mentioned in the local press down here about Johnson being linked with Liverpool. Theres a feelin down here at the mo that they were very much 'stung' by the Henderson and Adam transfers, so I think the Kopites will be very careful again about splashing out sub 15 million transfer fees again...saying that though owt can happen !

tbf johnson is proven, very very good player, where henderson was still very young and sometimes in his last season at sunderland was often criticised by his own fans and charlie adam was a 1 season wonder. Not a gamble imo, even for 16M

What happens to Larsson if we get McGeady? Especially if he has a cracking Euros for Sweden?

Can i ask, with the financial fair play rules, how can liverpool afford this?

Yes they got £50 mil for Torres but

    £35 mil carrol
    £23 mil suarez
    £20 mil downing
    £18 mil henderson
    £08 mil adam
    £?? mil enrique

Unless they have unreal sponsorship money, there is no way they can be abiding by them

precisely this. a much more stable footing for longer-term progress, than yo-yo glory-boy signings
