Head coach keeping upbeat ahead of Preston clash. Johnson says City created 24 chances in midweek "Modern players need to hear positives," he adds Head coach previews clash with Preston North End Lee Johnson has been busy extenuating the positives to his players as they look to sign off for 2016 at home with victory over Preston North End tomorrow (3pm). The 1-0 loss at home to Brentford on Tuesday night was City’s fourth defeat in five league games, but the head coach remains upbeat – with his team sitting seven points from both the play-offs and the relegation zone in the Sky Bet Championship. Johnson stated “The modern player needs to hear the positives. “We created 24 really good opportunities against Brentford. We’ll show each and every one of them to the players. “Against Huddersfield I thought we lost a little bit of our identity, or maybe they outplayed us with their identity. “On Tuesday the positives that I took from the game is that we actually played some really good football at times. Of course the result is disappointing and hurts bad. “If we can take the performance that created 24 chances against Brentford into the Preston game then hopefully we’ll score two or three goals.” Johnson acknowledges Tuesday’s game was “too open and expansive”, compared to his side’s recent “rigid defensive” display in the 2-0 win over Ipswich Town. Of tomorrow’s clash with Preston, the City boss said: “I can see it being a tighter game again, given the way they shape up. “I watched Preston at Nottingham Forest on Wednesday and it’s good to take the game in live as you always learn something more in the flesh. “Simon Grayson has done a great job there, a very steady one. Every team he puts out is very organised and disciplined.” A crowd in excess of 18,000 is guaranteed for the festive encounter. Huddersfield beat us because of their identity.. “Against Huddersfield I thought we lost a little bit of our identity, or maybe they outplayed us with their identity". LJ it gets better and better.. http://www.bcfc.co.uk/news/article/2016-17/johnson-keeping-positive-mindset-3470431.aspx
Johnson stated “The modern player needs to hear the positives. It's always been this way. Fu*k me Junior will invent the wheel next.
Bristol City must have a massive great book of " comments to try and confuse the loyal fan " chapter 1 ....... Up a creek without a paddle chapter 2 ...... Use of reversing polarity when we lose .. eg ..pt 1 ...how good they were chapter 13 .... how to reinvent the wheel, the windmill etc .... chapter 29 .... How we miss our centre half, but should be back in a month chapter 41 .. The market prohibits us spending that much money on a fullback ..part 2 a midfielder .... pt 5 striker chapter 51 ... replies to the board has total faith .....
All managers will use a similar team talk- They are hardly likely to say we have been crap and will probably get beat again this week- Well done lads, at least you passed the ball around well- You win the game by scoring one more goal than the opposition, no matter who it is-Trick is, how you go about doing it
Maybe he ought to say 'We've got a lovely revamped ground, there are more people coming through the turnstiles (for now!) than since the days of the old 1st Division, now start justifying the £20k a week we're paying you by winning matches again' And just maybe Lansdown should be saying the same to LJ ?
Bit harsh RP, yeah stating the obvious, but 24 chances is 24 positives, a team creating no chances would surely be no positives.....give the bloke a break.........ha ha, but you're loving it I know!!
the positive is you create 9 chances and score one more goal than the opposition, the reason we are allowed so many chances is the other team has 3 pts and no need to spend time chasing another goal .. so in defence they defend and the "chances" mount up ...
Did I really just wake up to another load of horseshit or is a nightmare brought on by the Corona I had 2 days ago? Bloody hell Lee stop taking your faithful followers for idiots and perhaps it's time for you to take a long hard look at yourself in the mirror before you start pontificating this rubbish. Sending out endless rubbish tweets will never make you, or anybody else for that matter, a better manager and it's time to put up or shut up, and you need to give your army the same message. The gloss is starting to rub off and it is only a matter of time before somebody says I told you so. Apart from that Mrs Lincoln how was the show?
