Sky Sports claim that QPR are heading the queue in the race to sign Fulhamâs Andy Johnson this month. The former England striker has turned down Fulhamâs offer of a contract extension and, with his current deal expiring at the end of the season, the Whites are prepared to listen to offers for the 30 year-old rather than lose him for nothing in the summer. Johnson, who has been missing since Fulhamâs defeat by Manchester United before Christmas with a groin injury, has scored 11 goals in 26 appearances for Fulham this season and has been attracting serious interest from a number of Premier League sides. Blackburn were thought to be in pole position as Steve Kean prepares a £2m offer for the former Everton striker to help supplement his attacking options, but QPR have retained an interest in Johnson despite bringing in Manchester Unitedâs Federico Macheda on loan. Neil Warnock is keen to add greater firepower to his squad and has targeted Johnson, who scored a hat-trick against Rangers, back in October, as a potential acquisition. http://www.shoot.co.uk/news/latest_article/C48/premier_league/johnson_for_rangers/
Rangers lead AJ hunt Warnock keen to win race for Fulham striker By Pete O'Rourke - Follow me: @skysportspeteo. Last Updated: January 5, 2012 10:43am Skysports.com understands Queens Park Rangers are leading the chase for Fulham striker Andrew Johnson. Johnson's future at Fulham has been the subject of speculation for some time with the player rejecting a new contract earlier this season. The 30-year-old current deal expires in the summer and Fulham are ready to offload Johnson in this month's transfer window rather than risk losing him for nothing. Johnson has scored 11 goals this season, including a hat-trick in the 6-0 win over QPR in October and his form has attracted interest from a host of clubs. Blackburn are thought to be keen on the former Everton man, but QPR are hoping to steal a march on their rivals by luring Johnson to Loftus Road. Rangers boss Neil Warnock has made a new striker one of his top priorities this month as his side have struggled for goals this term. Warnock is desperate to add more firepower to his side as he looks to guide them to safety away from the bottom end of the table and Johnson could fit the bill. http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11095/7411955/
Queens Park Rangers are believed to be leading the chase for Andrew Johnson after he rejected a new deal with Fulham earlier this term. The Cottagers aren't prepared to let the 30-year-old leave for nothing in the summer, and if he doesn't change his position regarding a new contract with the club, a parting of the ways seems inevitable before the end of the month. Fulham boss Martin Jol would prefer to keep the striker who has scored 11 times this season, including a hat-trick in the 6-0 win over QPR in October, but he also understands the club's stance to seek a fee for Johnson. Rangers keen on Johnson swoop Blackburn are also thought to be keen on the former Everton hitman, but Rangers chief Neil Warnock is quietly confident he can persuade him to move to Loftus Road instead, as he attempts to guide his team away from the wrong end of the Premier League. http://www.eatsleepsport.com/fulham/rangers-keen-on-johnson-swoop-1363407.html
