Am I alone, despite being a totally committed RED, quite pleased that John Ward is doing well back at the Gas?
Top bloke, top manager. Better than they deserve.

Bollocks got all excited then, thought he jacked <laugh>

I said on their board when he took over they would finish mid to just out the playoffs. I liked him when he was with us as well, surprised he came back to Bristol let alone to them after being shafted by both clubs.

Truthfully I would rather both us be in the premier league and representing Bristol than rovers struggling in league 2 and us struggling in the championship. As for now, If we're suffering I hope they do too <whistle>

The missus used to work in Hartcliffe School and back in the day when Marcus Stewart and Marcus Browning were there JW was always popping in and supporting local sporting initiatives.
I'm sad to say that there wasn't a City representative in sight. Joe Jordan was only active north of the border and didn't appear to give a toss about the local lads.
Probably why Stewart played for the gas instead of us - a lifelong City fan but only JW's Rovers came looking.

Good luck to him - and I may be on my own (and slightly dodgy ground) but if he ever turned up at AG again - even managing Rovers - I would cheer him.

Top bloke IMO and should have been with us for a lot longer than he was.

Good to see the Gas get back to losing ways at Northampton though, especially with everyone below them picking up points

He said on the radio that he had messages of support from City fans when he got the job

He also said he had retired from being a Manager, but when Rovers contacted him he knew he wanted to do it straight away.

    Another good man.

Following on from their doomed flirtation with Scottish managers, both Bristol clubs are blessed with 2 guys who know what they are doing, are not flash, but down to earth, honest guys.

Want whoever who is in charge there to turn the club into a shambles. Ward is ****ing it up. Respect the likes of Murray more turning the Gas down when his carear was on the wane because he wanted to keep hsi relationship with city fans in place.

The only thing I did not like about John Ward was his insistence while he was City's manager in talking about "This Football Club" and never once referring to us as Bristol City or even City.
Ever heard Ferguson, Wenger or Moyes refer to their clubs like that?

Great bloke and I got on with him well when he managed us.

Why we sacked him and replaced him with Benny Lunatic, I'll never know.

Strong rumour at the time was that after a defeat at Ipswich (yes we always seem to lose there) he said to members of the board that he did not know how to change the bad run we were on and he needed help.
Board suggested Lennartson who was about to come in as Director of Football would be able to help him and so the rumour went, Ward threw his dollies out of the pram and left. Board took easy option by appointing Lennartson to replace Ward and the rest is history.
Fact or fiction or a mixture of both?

John wanted Ray Harford and would have worked with him.

The game we won 2-1 v a very good Bolton team was his last,if I remember correctly.

Yes I vaguely remember Ray Harford was being talked about around that time.
Football must be the only industry where the employee tries to dictate to the Board, who they will work with. In industry and commerce, one never gets the opportunity to voice any opinion on who one's boss will be!
