Apparantly scored a cracker from edge of the box. Still say he is a major and key player for us this season. Think he will have his best season to date with us.
steadies goal was sweet from the edge of the box, he was a bit of a lone wolf up front at times winning headers with no support around which seemed wasteful.......... Saints goal was our downful, flaffing about with the ball rather than keeping it in their half of the pitch, so late in the game could see it coming to be honest............ A draw against a premiership side has to be a positive outcome after this one Optimistic for the season for real The Gills next..........a performance like this i think will keep us in the cup
Not there tonight as it's a bit of a trip from my village in Portugal and back in one day. John Stead seems to be carrying on where he left off at end of last season. Must admit, when he signed for City I thought he's only 27 and has had eight clubs including loans in the eight years since he made his debut for Huddersfield so he'll be here about 18 months maximum. So is it the Bristol air, because he is now beginning his third season with us and on what I saw in the previous two seasons, I want him to stay with City for a few more years. Like Jamie McA, he may even become an adopted Bristolian! An intelligent footballer who showed a good deal of passion for City last season when reinstated after injury and Maynards departure. He may never be the total goal getter that some seem to expect from a number 9 but given good support from his colleagues should get 12 to 15 a season and importantly, he will lay on plenty more for strike partners and midfielders who are willing to make the runs into the box. PS. But I'll be there for Palace and Cardiff. Are they still the Bluebirds or now Red Dragons?
IMO he is the best striker we have got and the heart of a lion, you've guessed it I think he is a class act...
the boys went toe to toe with a physical side and showed a very good account we have heart and believe we can compete and that bodes well for the start of the competitive season ahead lets have yer..........
As a rider to my previous comment, I looked up his career record and since he joined Ipswich in 2009 and then City in 2010, he has consistently scored in 30% or just under 1 goal per 3 matches. If he stays free of injury and loss of form, that will give him 15 for the season. A good base for the others to add to. Agree with you Wize, he is class and well commited to the City cause.
He did score a goal tonight. Citys first shot on target. To be honest he had a quiet game but he struggled playing up front on his own. We looked better in the second half when taylor replaced him and woolfood and anderson came on. Think woolford should have got a brace but those three did create chances which was a positive. Just shocked tonight at the attendance
Bollocks to that. Taylor is no doubt a good player who hasn't been given enough chances but tonight Stead worked his socks off and again proved why he's the most invaluable member of the team.
Stead worked hard last night but he looked tired when he came off, due to all the work he had to do up front on his own. Took his goal sweetly though, edge of the box and curled around the keeper....very nice! Nice to see a couple of attacking full backs for us too........both had decent games. Skuse and Morris were getting the hits in in midfield and Abert looked up for it. Not sure about Yannick though, he does appear awkward on the ball sometimes, as if he's trying too hard? All in all, pleased with the effort last night even though it took us 30 minutes to get into the game, but the goal settled us. Saints didnt look anything special tbh...hard working but lots of silly mistakes, especialy in the 2nd half. And does'nt Mr Delboy shout and swear a lot!
responding to previous post Caldicot......... lol, yes he does...........eyes on the price laddies or ur go and upset daddy Delboy...........and you wont like him when he's angry...........RRRRRRRROAR
