Not very sporting by the superstar defender.
Wonder how his club will feel with him going public like this?
Both clubs have been speaking well about building bridges in the run up to tomorrow.. only for him to be quoted as saying that.... not the way for a captain to conduct himself surely?
He should have just kept his mouth shut IMHO....

    http://www.express.co.uk/sport/foot...O-Shea-Newcastle-Jack-Colback-Tyne-Wear-derby

SUNDERLAND skipper John O'Shea has cranked up the atmosphere ahead of tomorrow's North-east derby by insisting he will not be shaking hands with former team-mate Jack Colback.

O'Shea has refused to exchange pleasantries with Colback before the match, following his free transfer move from Sunderland to Newcastle six months ago.

O'Shea, looking to captain the Wearsiders to an unprecedented four successive wins over their neighbours, said: "Whatever happens afterwards - shaking hands - there'll be none of that beforehand.

"Jack will be doing everything he can for Newcastle. I'm sure whoever is playing in midfield, Jack will be looking to get right into them - and likewise for us as well."

Newcastle manager Alan Pardew's main worry, however, is central defender Steven Taylor, who infuriated Sunderland fans two seasons ago by suggesting he would "rather be a stamp collector," than play for Newcastle's rivals.

A section of Sunderland fans responded by singing 'Steven Taylor - we wish you were dead" and Pardew has now tried to diffuse the row

He said: "The one who worries me the most is Steven Taylor. He wears his heart on his sleeve and he plays like that in this fixture. I've spoken to him about it. I think this time around he will be a lot calmer."

Pardew also believes the deaths of Newcastle fans John Alder and Liam Sweeney this season on the Malaysian Airlines MH17 flight must herald an improvement in the behaviour of warring supporters.

Sunderland fans helped to organise a memorial fund for the duo and Pardew is hoping both sets of supporters take part in a tribute for Alder and Sweeney - to be held in the 17th minute of tomorrow's game.

Pardew said: "It would be nice if everybody applauded in the 17th minute. If Sunderland fans join in, our fans will appreciate it more than anything else in the derby.

"We are trying to get away from all that unsavoury stuff. They have come across the bridge from Sunderland and you have to pay credit to them for what happened over John Alder and Liam Sweeney. I would like to think we would meet them there and treat this as exactly what it is - a football match. Therefore, whatever the result, we will shake hands.

"We will turn up as normal and hopefully it will be a fantastic football match, although the passion will be no less, the intensity will be no less, which makes it unique, more than any game I've ever played in or managed."

Sunderland manager Gus Poyet said: "I will try to respect the opposition and I hope the fans do as well, while creating a passionate atmosphere."

Pardew says his players must cut out individual errors if they are to break Sunderland's recent stranglehold on the derby, with Newcastle having won only one of the last seven encounters between the sides.

"They punished us last season and we can't afford to make those mistakes again," he said. "What we need - and this is a message to our fans as well - is patience. I know that is very difficult in a derby and Sunderland are a difficult team to break down with some really good players in there like O'Shea, Wes Brown and Lee Cattermole.

"They police that defensive area very well. Sunderland's intensity was better than ours last time but I don't think that will be the case on Sunday. This is a different team."

No big deal, one man places a lot of importance on loyalty, another one will sell himself to the highest bidder, that is the way it has always been and always will be, depends on the moral fibre of the individual ,

    That's your opinion fella.
With this derby both sides of the divide have come together over MH17. It's my opinion that crap like this undoes a lot of the good work both sets of fans have put in.

John O'Shea acting like a child. We have had players that have crossed over before between the 2 clubs without issue.

Very unprofessional comments from O'Shea. Thought he was a better person than that. All Colback did was sign for his boyhood team.

What a thick arsehole he is.
Not many Mackems can defend him here.
    He has zero class.

If he doesn't shake his hand for something so trivial, he should be banned from the game. Terrible role-model. Hope he plays on Sunday though because he's ****ing ****. Wesley and John, the ****test Man Utd rejects of all time.

As mentioned above, as a lot of Sunderland fans have come together to raise money, you get stupid comments like this that will not only undue any good work, but will give the odd mindless idiot ammunition. O'Shea is entitled to his views, however it's a game of football. All Colback did was join his boyhood club. He hasn't killed anyone, hasn't slept with O'Shea's missus [a la John Terry/ Wayne Bridge] so his stance is nothing short of pathetic really.

It's a daft thing for him to say. Even if he's bitter or even if they hate each other and shared a rocky work relationship, he should still suck it up and shake his hand. Hope Gus has a word.

Reading into it more it's bollocks. The papers are twisting, he's not said anywhere that he won't shake his hand in the line up. He's on about the full time handshakes and the 'none of that before hand' is referring to the game itself. They'll shake hands.

Probably entirely bullshit. I can't believe O'shea would do that. Total nonstarter this. I'd be very surprised if there was any truth in it.

I do understand if some fans felt a bit bitter about Colback. But other players? Petty. It's the nature of football that you move to different teams.

Our intensity will not be the same as last season ! who is Pardew kidding, we have Brown, Rodwell, Bridcutt, Johnson, O Shea, Cattermole who all know what it means, you have too many foreigners I am afraid, our players will be up for it again hehe. And O Shea said he meant afterwards they would shake hands. And we hate Carroll more than Colback.

Even though you have chosen to make it appear so, the point I am making has nothing to do with football, and I resent the fact that you chose to ignore that I have in the past both on the forum and in financial terms shown my feelings for two individuals that have truly shown their loyalty to their chosen team, try to forget about point scoring in the name of decency

Its twisted paper talk, O'Shea said they will shake hands after the game, nothing more. I have no animosity with Jack, he is from Killingworth and could be guaranteed a place at Newcastle. He had had enough of being a squad player/emergency left back. Loads of lads move for 1st team football.

What's with the boyhood club he was in Sunderland playing in a Sunderland team when he was ten years old and did so for the next fourteen years, it would not surprise me in the least if he had never watched Newcastle play
