http://www.lcfc.com/news/article/050613-twih-john-oneill-breaks-a-club-record-856007.aspx a fine article and brings back warm memories for 'older heads' on here. John O'Neil's central defensive partnership with Larry May was one of the best at City in my lifetime not quite as good as Cross-Sjoberg nor Elliott-Walsh-Taggs (IMHO) but a damn fine pairing all the same.
Think you will find that Ian King was the solid rock of the defence in the early 60's, Appleton, McLintock, Cross and the great David Gibson ran the midfield, we had such a good side then! Sjoberg moved up from right back to replace King at center half in about 65 another good hard player for the foxes.
John Sjoberg was amazing, seemed to head balls away that were easier to kick! (at least that's how it seemed to the boy I was)
