I have to say that he has been linked with us for over a year now and I guess its inevitable he will again be linked this summer as we are on a striker hunt. I too am confused as to why this lad is attracting such interest as he hasn't been able to break into the EPL and seems better suited to weaker leagues like as in Holland.

If we get him for nowt for a year with a view to buy then fine but I wouldn't pay good money for him to start with as he is totally unproven at this level and we need a goalscorer ready to meet the challenge from day one, not 6 months down the line.

Agree with the idea of a loan with view to permanent deal. He was on fire the season before last when out on loan, but I'm sure I read that he had some sort of serious injury that prevented him from playing last season.

Any ITK's got anything to add?

He was expected to break through last season at City, got an injury at the wrong time, and as such missed the loan window.

When he got fit, City were struggling and Mancini wouldn't risk him, so I don't think last season should be a slur.

The lad is quick, strong, skilful, a great finisher and most importantly a very good decision maker, I'd have him in a shot for £6million.

He's nee Wickham or Ji like...so for that reason alone, is worth a try.

I'm sorry PP but his stats and goalscoring record does not justify anywhere near a £6m investment for me. Take him on seasons loan at best and have him back up the striking options with a view to a deal if he does the business but no way would I sanction (if I was Short) a £6m capital spend on such an injury prone, untested boy. We already have an expensive flop in Wickham to unload and his record was far better than this lads.

How many times have you actually seen him play to state that though? You tube could make a one legged man look effective so doesn't count.

I'd probably prefer a loan with option to buy, again just because he's currently unproven at this level.

For me it could be a very similar signing to Wickham - comes for a reasonable (6-8m) fee with bags of potential and the ability to be 'the next big thing'... doesn't get game time to develop, because we're always in the ****... sits on the bench/reserves, and so the pressure of the price tag grows...

If we buy youngsters with potential we need to make sure that they have a route to the first team to play. With Fletch, Graham and potentially someone else coming in, it's unlikely that he would (unless we sell Graham!).

As for a proven striker - I hear that Wayne Rooney chap is looking for a club, he's scored a few... :emoticon-0105-wink:

i really rate this lad and think he could be good for us. he scored a hatfull in holland. i know he never really broke through at city but they have a few quality forwards so it would have been hard for him

Sounds too much like a luxury player to me, not what we need for next season. How bad was his injury that Mancini wouldn't risk him last season?

Is this is the same weaker holland teams like AJAX who played our current champions off the park with boys. at Ajax all of the 20 year olds are streets ahead of our home grown talent, in skills and ability. Thats why there is such a demand for them in clubs around europe.

The Dutch league is piss poor compared to the EPl Roger? Thats not even a debating point and even the teams from the 3rd division can surprise the Man City/Utds etc opf this world in a one off game format.

Ajax would struggle over 38 games in the EPL to make an impact and they are the best of all the others in that league, who imo would be relegation fodder. Serie A; The Bundesliga and La Liga are superior leagues that are on a par with the EPL.

The Eredivisie is championship standard for the most part.

Think it's purely a case that simply nobody from the prem has been prepared to take a chance. People weren't exactly queuing up to take Lukaku but west brom eventually did. Loan with first option to sign will do me. He's done a good job abroad.

Legal age to have child in Britain is 16. Have a child at 16 and your child has a child at 16. Grandparent at 32.

They would both have to be concieved within the first 3 months of turning 16, unless there has been some hanky panky going on at the bike sheds.

Whickhams record was better than 21 goals in 28 senior appearances, with 14 assists? Don't make me laugh mate!
