I expect people have seen this, but I only came across it by chance. Its slightly from an Irish perspective, but then nothings perfect Giles was the player I liked watching the most: the way he linked up with Gray and Cooper on the left and of course with Bremner, was a huge part of our success in the 60's and 70's One thing he says that stuck - we were top 4 for 11 years, in todays terms that would have meant permanent Champions League football. The stuff about the Clough episode was interesting too. And of course ManU wanting to get rid of him and his mission to prove them wrong
Seen it ........like all us Irish, he was tough as nails, but unlike Billy, he was clever ......he was a dirty fecker, but a LEEDS legend IMO
Yep, always thought the charity shield thing was funny, poor Bremner gets sent off and Giles gets away with far worse
Wonderful memories of a great player and a great team, never given much credit by the media but the supporters knew they were one of the best club sides of all time.
Bremner and Giles, one of the best midfield partnerships in club football of any era. Dirty feckers... but they were our dirty feckers
Billy never went behind anyones back he was openly aggressive as was the whole team. If John thought someone was taking libertys he wasn't against having a kick off the ball. They could play football or they could scrap. The London/Manchester based press did not like that. I loved 'em.
... word was the way to beat Leeds was to kick giles in the first minute.... he'd then spend the rest of the game looking for a chance to kick you back, rather than concentrate on the game.
