It looks like they're going to hang on until the summer to get Frank De Boer. Handy for us, so far Carver's record reads W/0 D/1 L/3.
They're 8 pts clear of the relegation places so probably think they're just about safe. Massive game for both of us this Saturday. A win for us will make the table even more congested and then they'll be looking over their shoulders.
They seem to have done that a lot in recent seasons. Have a good spell of 4-5 wins on the bounce then decidedly average/crap for the rest of the campaign.
No surprise at all. Leave Carver to keep the ship above water until May, then bring in someone for next season.
That'll do me. Top man that Ashley bloke. 30/12/2014 GBP 20.00 Single: JOHN CARVER @ 20/1 EVENT SELECTION PRICE E/W TERMS RESULT STATUS Next Permanent Newcastle ManagerManager SpecialsOutright - Specials John Carver 20/1 Win only None Unsettled
Not so sure about this. They are currently very flaky at the back. We'll be a test case for them. If we win I can see panic on the streets of Newcastle, a massive crisis of confidence and a great big Geordie implosion. On the sing-a-long-a-Brownie afternoon The Mags were relegated remember. History repeating?
Was always going to happen. Cheap cheap cheap. Ashley has more focus on Rangers nowadays. Toon fans dont expect any new players IN but will they hang to what they have NOW ?

No one can step in now who is worth paying for, it's the best option, they go down its an easy blame, if they stay up and get FDB in im sure Carver will happily step aside with the happiness he has done what he could
Have you been paid yet? Only if you've not I'd look at the wording of the statement from the club. "Having explored at some length the options available to us, the decision has been taken to defer the appointment of a permanent head coach until the end of the season," Sounds like he's still just caretaker, so you'll need to wait until the summer to find out if you win or not. Otherwise the bookies could find themselves having to payout twice, once on Carver now and then again when the permanent manager is appointed and all the winning/losing betters come in pointing out that Carver wasn't given the position as a permanent manager.
Yes, next manager usually pays out on caretakers / temporary managers after they've been in charge for 10 games. Got paid out like that on Stu Gray at Sheff Wed last year(?), although I'd had a heads up he was getting the job anyway.
BUMPED THREAD. +++++++++++++++ John Carver is at it again today. He is Sticking the boot in about what goes on @ Sid James Park. Hardly a shock but confirms that Wally has more than his work cut out. www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/steve-mcclaren
No idea what this is about as the link doesn't take you to a story about McClaren, when I went was o the main sports page however there was a story about Rodgers being linked to the next England manager job!
Sorry. The story headline is "Steve McClaren had NO say in Newcastle's summer transfer activity". If you click onto the Newcastle Utd emblom the story appears.
Tickles just cocked up the link... http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/steve-mcclaren-no-say-newcastles-6587860
