...over his tribute to Gary Speed, referring to suicide as selfish. May be it is, or can be - but now is not the time to philosophise. Why can't the guy just say, sorry and RIP like everyone else?
unfortunately he likes to be controversial in order to get some attention. agree this is far too soon to talk about the morality of it, distasteful and disappointing.
Barton has not realised yet that his continued rants on twitter not just reflect badly on him but also on the club he is playing for. I really can't understand why the club have not banned him from using twitter. it's becoming a serious distraction and in this cause it's really distasteful.
@Joey7Barton Joseph Barton Once again the level of incompetence in todays journalism shines through, the stories and headlines were embarrassing to each individual... @Joey7Barton Joseph Barton ....who has taken part in not only writing them but allowing them to go public. U know who u r and u should be ashamed! Thankfully the..... 15 minutes ago via web @Joey7Barton Joseph Barton .....readers comments, on not only 1 but a number of sites, has proven to me how wide of the mark u r in trying to make me the scapegoat. @Joey7Barton Joseph Barton This tweet is aimed solely at those involved. I am not a subordinate and i have an opinion unlike u and ur creed. There is a reason that.... @Joey7Barton Joseph Barton ....part of ur existence/job? Is to comment on my life, not the other way around. There is a reason for this? I'll leave it to u to work out Joseph Barton i dont have any problem with the few decent journos in this country. Like everything, theres good and bad in all walks of life but I ..... 3 minutes ago via web @Joey7Barton Joseph Barton ..take exception to these mindless idoits that write or create this nonsense. Infact i go as far to say i despise ur being, nothing but rats 1 minute ago via web
Joey's two people isn't he? A mature footballer who has been ably driving our new order - and an immature intellect who rushes in where angels fear to tread. He'll learn.
As I've said before, I don't really mind what Joey gets up to/says away from the pitch, as long as he does the business on it.
The minute I saw his Tweet I thought this would happen......you give a journalist something so easy to run with and they'll bite. He's practically writing the headlines for them! It seems the tabloids may come under further scrutiny if rumours about Speed's death are true. I was told today a national discovered he was having an affair with a man and rang him Saturday night to say they were going to run with it. Tragic if true, but not at all surprising.
Does anyone really care if a tabloid sensationalises something that Barton said? It reflects badly on him but not us or the club. Joey, I heard the same rumour but I've heard a few others too. I doubt the truth will ever come out now and it's probably best that it doesn't.
If you make a comment then you have to accept others can make theirs even if it's their job. Nothing against Barton off the pitch really but take away his profile and character and sorry but he is a good but ordinary footballer Sorry but that's all he is to me If he drives the team forward to a 4-0 victory against WBA then of course I will like him better ... He has a lot to prove in my book Weigh him up against Parker at the moment ? Garth you cod eyed balloon
Obvious that DT was going to use this as another unjustified dig at his playing ability. Back to the point of the thread, his comments were correct, but poorly timed. That's all.
I think he'd get in any team outside the top 6 if it was based on footballing ability alone. In the short time he's been played in the correct position with Faurlin he's been excellent and you can't put a price on a good leader.
Agreed. Like I said yesterday, all players should be prohibited from using it. It just causes too much hassle.
He occasionally says something needless and controversial like this but he makes a lot of sense most of the time and it's all harmless. It's been massively over-hyped but he wasn't actually saying anything that most people would disagree with.
I read his original tweet the other day and there was nothing really controversial about it. I'm guessing the papers cherry picked the comment to suit their needs. Not his fault the tabloids want to sell some papers off the back of this tragic event.
