Well deserved

 

He got my vote, so I'm pleased.

 

It beggars belief doesn't it, player of the season who wants to stay, he's totally committed and the hierarchy at our club don't want to know. I'm at a loss, I'm beginning to wonder if the club just don't want him there anymore but don't want to lose favour with the fans by coming out and admitting it.

 

For ****s sake Ashley give him the ****ing contract!!!

 

Shame this won't really mean **** to Ashley. I voted for him, especially for his commitment too.

 

I'm gutted. When he was being stupid I wanted him out but the lad's turned things around and has been immense this season.

Ashley just loves stuffing thing up.

Just hope he get's Nolan signed up soon.

Joey Barton is an employee of NUFC and to publically slag n bitch about Ashley and LameArse in the hope of getting a new contract is either, very poor advice from his agent or shock horror the act of a player engineering his way out of the club with his reputation with the fans intact.

 

He publically slagged and bitched about Ashley AFTER he wasn't offered another contract, and i don't blame him.

 

Correct ThrillerinAsprilla. Player of the year or not every player has a value, and Joey (or his agent) plainly think his is higher than the valuation the board has of him. He didn't sign the contract that was on the table (supposedly due to the contract length) and the board have already moved to improve the team. Whether Joey signs a new deal or not is decided between him, his agent and the board probably based on performances next season now, but if Cabaye comes in and is better, cheaper, and younger then Joey can frankly do one. All this social media bollocks is just making him look pathetic, sort out your contract in private rather than trying to get fan pressure to sort it for you.

Barton is trying to manipulate the fans into doing his fighting for him and note that he only started suggesting that we needed a change in owner after his negotiations had broken down. I don't believe for a second he would be saying that if they had given him the contract he wanted. Sour grapes obviously.

Firstly, it's definitely a well-deserved award for him. He's been superb this year!

Secondly, I kinda agree that doing all of this contract negotiations malarky in the public eye, calling for the fans to take over etc is a bit OTT BUT we've all said that we don't trust agents and we don't trust the media cos they can put whatever spin they want on it.... We all said it would be nice to hear from either the player or the board about what's going on, now he comes and speaks out and we are sceptical! Yes, he may have said a bit too much and to slag off your employer is not exactly the most conventional way to go about getting a new contract but every knows he's a passionate bloke so he was never going to sit back and get walked over.

After the season he's just had you'd think they'd bend over backwards to keep him. He was always pushing and prompting and behind almost everything that happened.
