@RodneyMarsh10 Rodney Marsh Well that was boring!!! Brilliant R's result. 2 wishes down still waiting for my last one. What a day!
Fair play to Barton, when the chips were down and we need a solid performance from our captain, he came out and played a blinder. Wish he could have scored with that shot from the run in the second half
It was Barton comforting Adel when he wasn't allowed to take the penalty, thought that showed he can be a captain with a calming influence when he wants to be
Barton was immense. Great performance from our capitain. ( Btw, who did he go over to give his shirt to at the end? Looked like someone special. )
Got to say he and the rest of the midfield had a great game today. He stood up well to cole ( who i have to say when i see playing live you realise just how good he is ). The big thing for me was that he did not get dragged into rough stuff and get himself a card. He was a captain and leader today with maturity. Well played JB.
Fantastic that Barton kept his head when many others were boiling over. He demonstrated far more maturity than Terry and Lampard who behaved like the spolit ar*eholes they really are. And he must have touched the ball twice as many times as some. I have to add a slightly negative aspect in that IMO Barton was responsible for taking a lot of pace out of our attacks at times. Facing 9 men who continued to come forward the opportunities for securing the win with breakaway goals were immense but Joey usually seemed happy to turn inside rather than look for the runs. I guess he was carrying out NWs guidance however. Let nothing distract from a fine captain's performance.
Hands down his best performance. Believe the atmosphere played a major part in that, know it will be hard reproducing that derby-day-atmosphere, but if we could on a regular basis it will yield plenty of extra points. We are best as underdogs and this surely has given our beliefs a strong fundament, think we'll take some of the other big boys to the cleaners as well
