Does anyone else think he's been incredibly harshly treated in the media regarding yesterday's game. Gervinho threw himself over in the box and Barton didn't seem to do a lot wrong. The only thing I would hold against him is that he clearly made a meal of it when slapped. He also showed an admirable restraint after Song stamped on him.
Maybe so, but he puts a good shift in for his side and would be a real asset for a lot of teams in this league. A better footballer than Wise too.
No he should have been sent off for his physical attack on Gervinho. When you look at the replay he was brought down and it was a pen , he did not dive. If Barton had done the same thing in the street or in a bar he would have been guilty of assualt. With his record he would have been back inside again. So I think he has been let off big style.
I noticed his style changed last season seems to play act an awful lot, I mean we are talking about a hard criminal starts crying like a baby with a little slap. He is no good and is turning into a cheat or maybe he always was!
He certainly wouldn't be guilty of assault and to call it a physical attack is an exaggeration. I don't think, even if there was the slightest, slightest contact, that could be construed as not a dive.
