In this thread, i'd like to hear a reason why Joey Barton shouldn't get a chance to play for England again.

You cannot give any of the following -

He's a thug
He punched Pederson which means he hasn't changed at all

He's the best Centre midfielder in form. Yes he plays right midfield for us, but that's because we need him here. He's real position is centre mid. I don't want anyone to compare him to any wingers, so don't mention players like Walcott, Lennon or Johnson. I'm talking about a midfielder not a winger.

He's a changed man, and in form.

I totally agree. He defiantly deserves an England call up but he won't get one. If I was crapello I'd make wor joey captain.

It is great to see Barton getting headlines for all the right reasons. Every time I've seen him he has impressed me, and I see no reason why he shouldn't get picked for England.

Barton is not exactly a great advert for the English Game - even tho he does work his backside off for Toon Army. Fair Play to him

I for one would not like to see him in a England Top - that would be embarrasing!

This is ridiculous, Bent 8 caps and 1 goal. Barton doesn't even get a place on the bench.

I watch Newcastle as of ten as i can and Barton should definitely be in the squad.

i'd like to see him given a chance

look at van bommel and de jong - far worse thugs than barton and got holand to a wc final.

i think we should try going down the route of more aggressive players.
