My latest Bristol City matchday programme piece on Social Media in football, featuring a review of how football bad-boy Joey Barton is transforming himself into an online philosopher. http://exiledrobin.blogspot.com/2011/09/joey-barton-x-rated-or-x-factor.html?spref=tw Would love to hear comments, thoughts etc and please share!
Sorry Cider, this player is of no interest to Bristol City or me as a fan of BCFC..... Cheers mate......
http://www.nme.com/news/tabloid-hell/56824 Interesting article. Shows that in fact his 'rebirth' is pretty much PR bollocks.
He's changed, or at least learned to control himself. But the main reason people think that is because he has a brilliant PR man, played everyone perfectly on twitter.
he always gets a bit of a kicking, because the ref is a bit more lenient with opposition fouls on him. nice enough guy, good player, bit of a git.
Fair enough Wize, know you've appreciated other posts so will keep trying! I'll repost when he signs for us in 3 years time ;-)
He's a toad dressed up like a prince. Unfortunately, no princess is coming to transform him. (Worked hard on that one)
Oh. That it then? Thought you were going to tell us something we didn't already know... Anyway, now you've set the topic, quick resume. Joey's a bad boy prem footballer in a conscious and deliberative phase, who's using the latest communications technology to express himself. Lots of people tread that path, with the notable exception of footballers which is why so many come across as thick and void. Barton's a character, one of few in the game these days. Love him or hate him, he attracts interest, sells tickets and entertains on and off the pitch. If that ain't X factor, I don't know what is. Odd topic for the Bristol City programme though... What about a piece on Bradley Orr?
Cider,no criticism being offered, just a comment and I do enjoy your work mate.. For good or bad Joey Barton is a class above us and not worth contemplating....
You beat me to it! OP, read that article and you'll find that Smiths-loving, Orwell-quoting, 'new' Joey Barton is nothing more than a puppet on a string...
