Barton was released by Queens Park Rangers following their relegation to the Championship last term and is clearly not lacking motivation, evidenced by a picture of his heavily calloused hand. He has been working with a strength and conditioning coach at St Mary's University in Twickenham for some time now and is hopeful that potential suitors will be impressed by his commitment to keeping fit. please log in to view this image Joey Barton reveals his heavily calloused hand on Instagram after an intense workout in the gym please log in to view this image Barton is currently working on his fitness as he bids to find a new club for the coming season The once-capped England international played 28 times for QPR in the Premier League last season, scoring once, but could not prevent the west London club from finishing bottom of the table with just 30 points from 38 games. Still, he left Loftus Road on good terms and is thought of fondly by many Hoops fans for his dedicated, hard-working attitude. He wrote in a statement shortly after his release, 'I was devastated that we went down this season but can hold my head high knowing I gave 100 per cent every single time I pulled on the blue and white hoops and hope with everything that the club can bounce back up straight away.' Since making his professional debut for Manchester City in 2003, Barton has also turned out for Newcastle United and Marseille. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3176217/Joey-Barton-reveals-battle-scars-intense-gym-workout-former-QPR-star-continues-search-new-club.html#ixzz3hA5u2qvK Follow us: @MailOnline on Twitter | DailyMail on Facebook http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3176217/Joey-Barton-reveals-battle-scars-intense-gym-workout-former-QPR-star-continues-search-new-club.html#ixzz3hA5HPNdR Follow us: @MailOnline on Twitter | DailyMail on Facebook
What proof do we have that the blisters came from lifting weights? In saying that, he did do a shift for us most of the time.
I think this shows a lack of intelligence and will put people off him. He just needs a pair of gloves.
He ran around a lot but at last he is in a place where he should be ... The wastelands Let's hope he understands at last that he has limited talent and generally mucks up football matches I actually like him very much but as soon as a club gets him then he will soon be in the news Get to France Joey
Good luck Joey. I think you actually cared and I thank you for that and for putting a good shift in each time you played. Man City? Forgive and forget.
Ah, bless him, got blisters on his soft pampered hands! Some of us have hands like that every day after a hard days graft - get over yourself Joey
I get this strange feeling that our club has offered Joey a much lowered weekly salary, so Joey is looking to see if anyone else will offer more coin before recommitting his future with us.
I reckon he'll be our captain by the end of August on £20/£25k per week I'll be happy if this happens
I'm thinking his contract ran out, the club then offered a much lower rate, for which he's probably seeing what else is about, if no offers come in, hell then take the clubs offer.
I think I would prefer him not to stay under those circumstances. Sort of see it from his viewpoint I suppose but it will not help him be committed if accepts us just because there are no better offers.
I think one thing you will always get with Barton is 100% commitment on the pitch. If there is any reason other than his wages for him being released, I suspect the problem is he gives too much lip in the dressing room. Other than that I'd like him back, and unless we got some defenders lined up, Dunne as well.
can't believe anyone would want him back at QPR we need a fresh start … lads he simply hasn't got it his positioning and decision making is wrong. His effort is very good but usually after he has put us on the back foot in the first place
I think that is a bit harsh Dave. For sure he isn't as good as he thinks he is but other than his distribution he is not a bad player. If the money was right it wouldn't surprise me at all to see him in the hoops next season.
Unlike some, Joey, despite some behavioural issues, Joey earned his wages whilst here, but we've moved on and it would be a potentially unsettling to the current squad to bring him back.
