A lack of decent vocabulary is common amongst footballers, did you ever see Andy (sorry, Andrew) Cole being interviewed? I think the only word he learned at school was 'obviously'. An old gag but here goes "Why do people take the p*ss out of David Beckham just because he isn't a genius? How many people take the p*ss out of Stephen Hawking just because he can't take a free kick?" Let's face it, if they weren't any good at football most of them would be finishing off each sentence with "Would you like fries with that?" or "Have a nice day". Or if you are Joey Barton you would finish your sentence after an interview with the parole board. Natameen?
Barton - Abuse will continue | QPR News, Fixtures, Results, Transfers | Sky Sports Barton: Expects crowd abuse at football to continue Queens Park Rangers captain Joey Barton believes crowd abuse will always be a part of football unless offenders are made accountable for their actions. Crowd abuse has come under the spotlight again after last weekend's North London derby between Tottenham and Arsenal was marred by offensive chanting from both sets of supporters at White Hart Lane. Sections of home supporters taunted Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger, while some away fans chanted offensive songs towards Tottenham striker Emmanuel Adebayor. Barton, who himself has been the target of opposition fans, admits crowd abuse is likely to continue in football unless the culprits are punished. "It's just sort of been the norm for me [crowd abuse] from the age of 23 obviously through my own stupidity and just football in general," Barton told Sky Sports News. "It is a strange society we live in where a lot of things are not allowed to be said in normal atmospheres but in football grounds it's like anything goes. "It is what it is. There's no point as a player sort of complaining about it because none of us can stop the 20, 30, 40,000 people whatever it may be singing what they sing or chanting what they chant. "It is one of the disappointing aspects of the game but it is part and parcel of it and until there's an accountability probably it will continue for a long time."
Hasn't been overly enthusiastic on the pitch either. Very underwhelming performances so far. He needs to step up to the plate and do his talking on the pitch.
Didn't like the fact that he was at a shooting range with guns. Wouldn't trust him with a gun in his hand!
He will start rocking and rolling for you guys soon enough. I think he is still gutted at what happened with us (he still tweets about us lol) however it will wash over soon and he will be an inspired signing
I hope we begin to see the best of him soon because I am fearful that he doesn't really want to be here. Lacklustre, uninspired displays so far.
I thought that, but then realised that it was Barton taking the biggest gamble, Lee Hughes was there with a gun!
I think he'll only play well if he has class players around him. This is why he came to us and this is probably what we pitched to him as part of the revolution. Playing with s**t like hall and Orr is probably not what he expected so instead of leading from the front, he's playing with a lot of doubt and regret. Hopefully we can make him happy in January.
