What do all you fellow Pompey (or Saints) fans think of Joey Barton's recent comments in an interview, about the fact that he (in his opinion) is the greatest English midfielder at the present time ?

Do you agree with his comments about Gareth Barry being the "teacher's pet" ?

To my mind he is a complete prat and a disgrace to English football - but that is only my opinion !

What do you think ? :emoticon-0100-smile

He is a small volcano who likes to think that he is a hard man. In my book many of his transgressions show him to be a spiteful little coward who tosses his rattle out of the buggy when he is beaten by better players. Time he got what for once and for all.

And to think I am a pacifist. I wouldn't even wish him on you lot as he is a talent that is both past it's sale by date, and twisted. The Herminator would put him back in his place and enjoy it as would we all.

I can't understand why he's in any team - he should be unemployed

He is a good player, who wins tackles, fairly and often unfairly, with his mind, as well as his boots.
He is quite beyond the pale, as a member of the human race however.

Some wise words !! My last memory of seeing him play ay Fratton Park, was his disgusting tackle from behind on Pedro Mendes; who had just come back from the equally shocking four arm smash from Ben Thatcher; where he deliberately raked his studs down the back of Pedro's calf, to put him out of the game, and then (I'll swear my memory isn't failing me !) turned to the Man. City bench and winked at them.

He may be talented, but like Wayne Rooney, he appears to be "one sandwich short of a picnic" at times......

He can be decent enough footballer but he is basically a thug who all too often reverts to type. There were many like him in the game when I first started watching football in the 60's and 70's but now he stands out more because, thankfully, he is not the norm.
