We signed this kid in the summer. He's only 16 years old and came with a reputation of being the next superstar from Sweden. I don't know if anybody can remember but he was having trials with Chelsea, Man Utd and Man City when we just swooped in and signed him up. The lad looks very good and continued his progress by smashing a hat-trick two days ago away at Mansfield in a 5-1 win. Here's a video of him and he does this regularly... And here is an extended version
Been keeping tabs on him, started slowly but is really picking up momentum. He's been played as a winger a lot.
Still finding his best position by the sounds of it, he originally had a reputation as an attacking midfielder. He looks like a forward to me though.
Well he's versatile fella, can play any attacking position, mind you those positions will no doubt be whittled down as he comes of age.
So. I agree a great prospect, however it took our last one (Watmore) 'til he was 21. 5 years time then. By 2021 we will have this world beater playing for us v Gillingham. Port Vale and Northampton. Makes a warm feeling. eh? x
Watmore was dumped from the academies before he hit his teens. But was playing senior football week in week out when he was 18. He's missed years of top coaching and facilities. Footballers coming of age is bit like puberty, it's different for everyone, to compare two players with completely different privileges makes it even harder. The kid could be making his debut this time next season, or he could disappear without a trace. We'll see what happens when the kid becomes a man, when ever that maybe if at all.
Yep, because it took Watmore until he was 21, that means every other footballer coming through at Sunderland won't be ready and tried until they are 21
With that pace he doesn't need to be 6 foot as the wind would probably hold him back...lol...the way things are at the moment put him on the bench at Man City,,,,give the lad 15 minutes at the end......love these sort of players that get the crowd going.....
Him and another lad we got in the summer Josh Maja both doing well for u18s. He looks rapid in those videos.
Yeah I was gunna say that, if he can get to 5'10 - 5'11 then that's the perfect height for a striker. I think there's already been a change in his build in the little time he has been with us, hopefully next season he can progress to the under 21's and then we'll see what he's made of playing with them.
