Well i am just starting up a Championship blog, and i have a Cardiff fan writing with me and we have just done a joint article about the up coming season for you. If you wouldn't mind reading and giving me your opinions etc... - http://www.football-lad.com/cardiff-city-fc-the-season-ahead/ Well for me the work Malky did last year went unnoticed due to the fact they didn't end up winning promotion. It doesn't make his efforts any less in my eyes. Mutch and Lewis are two very good signings, and if they can add to the signings they have already made i think they will be up there. Just depends if sides like Hull City, Leicester City continue strengthening etc.. If you want me to get rid of the link feel free, just wanting to share my work etc... My posting history shows i am not here to spam. Good luck for the up and coming season. By the way before the season starts will want to do an interview with a fan from every club, anyone here willing to do that with me? PS: Title is wrong, however i do have an article on it
good article. at the start of last season i was one of few who fully expected top 6. most thought mid table would be a starting point but we exceeded that. as we relied on a core of basically the same players playing every week we were bound to hit a brick wall at some point, though perhaps the cup run brought it about earlier..... the major difference between this season and under jones was that we had a mish mash of several loanees and egos who didnt have much fight in them, the players we now have havnt set the world alite footballing wise but are honest and are professional. we didnt bottle it against west ham, we were totally outclassed by a better team with a much bigger budget than us, no shame in that. different to the shame of losing to reading in the play off semis a year back whereby we went out with a pitiful display at the CCS. as for your assessment on the players i expect blake to leave as he needs first team football. the defence is settled and the money has been and will be spent in midfield and attack, where we were lacking. midfield, spot on, we need wide men, hopefully we can get some in...same with attack as we dont have anyone who is proven to be able to score lots of goals in this league... i expect top 4 this season as we are spending some pretty large sums of money for a club of our size (and debt).
Fellow Cardiff fan here who wrote the original article. Agree with most the points you made their under Malky we have a team tied down that is hard working and ego free and we are restricting loans. Under Jones with egos/loans it could work for 1/2 seasons but then if the gamble didn't result in promotion it was difficult sorting the squad out after. The regime employed by Malky is a breath of fresh air in comparison to Jones. It looks like we've got Kim Bo Kyung as well which is a massive positive and brings our spending to around 5-6M so far, quite a lot for a Championship club then we hopefully have Bellamy coming in as well as another striker apparently. Anyway hope you don't mind me dropping a couple more links for you, I've done reviews on two of our talents I am looking forward to seeing next season, hope you like them http://www.football-lad.com/one-to-watch-kadeem-harris/ http://www.football-lad.com/one-to-watch-joe-ralls/
I agree with basically everything you have said, apart from expecting top four. I think there are at least 6/7 teams saying exactly the same things its why its impossible to predict this league, you need luck, decisions, injuries, cup draws etc... all to go your way. Malky can do everything right but with so many talented teams you need some luck to.
