Joe Martin has announced on his twitter that he will be leaving the club after five years. Probably right for all parties, gives him a fresh challenge and us an opportunity to look elsewhere.

Good luck on your next venture Joe, always remembered for being part of the League 2 championship winning side!

surprised he was at the club 5 years. Not surprised he will be leaving though, was a useful left back for the Gills but not

I think the problem with Joe at this level is that he lacked the pace required for league one. He isn't a bad player but I think League two was his level. I am sure he won't struggle to find another club. Will always remember him for being a part of the championship winning side.

See I disagree with you there Hoadie, he was probably our most consistent player last season in an overall drab and boring side. I think he's comfortable at this level but that he just isn't quick enough to be an attacking full back like we've had in Bell and Garmston this season. Stick a left midfielder in front of him and he will do you a job at this level no problem.

    Best of Luck Joe!

I'm surprised at people being ok with him leaving, for me he has been a very consistent performer over the last 5 years and a great servant to the club. Would still have wanted to keep him as he is still very solid, but I can see how perhaps he doesn't fit in as well now with Edinburgh's attacking style of play.
