Joe Kinnear's appointment as director of football. Magpies owner Mike Ashley brought former boss Kinnear back to Tyneside to oversee recruitment. So if the director of football oversees recruitment, was it John Rudge who bought our new players and not Tony Pulis? Maybe we need to have a manager and a head coach. It seems that Mr Rudge was a shrewd judge of talent with Pulis not up to the task of doing his job as head coach.
