Despite reports claiming that Cole is on the verge of a loan move to Loftus Road, sources close to the player have told talkSPORT there has been no talks with QPR and the 29-year-old will fight for his place at Anfield. After a difficult first season on Merseyside, the former Chelsea midfielder is determined to make his mark at Liverpool this season. Cole has trained throughout the summer to reach peak fitness, to give himself every chance of forcing his way back into Kenny Dalglishâs plans, and has impressed in pre-season so far. Meanwhile, Martin Skrtel is set to miss the start of the season due to injury. The Slovakian defender, who played every minute of every Premier League game last season, is struggling with an ongoing calf problem and will not feature in the Reds' opening fixture at home to Sunderland.
