Exclusive: No bids for Bristol City's Joe Bryan but Leeds United and Middlesbrough ARE interested Robins' left back has a year on his contract but won't renew at Ashton Gate Interest is growing in Robins defender Joe Bryan with clubs from both the Championship and Premier League chasing his signature. Yesterday it emerged that both Middlesbrough and Leeds United are in the chase for the left-back's signature. However, some fans dismisssed this as putting two and two together. However, according to our sources both of the two northern second tier sides ARE 'very interested' in the 24-year-old with both teams looking to reinforce their full-back positions. Our understanding is that there have been no bids for Bryan yet this summer, though. That means that early reports that Burnley had offered £6m at the beginning of the summer transfer window were untrue and it remains doubtful that the Clarets hold an interest. We know from our sources that Fulham do retain a long held interest, though. While Bournemouth sent their top scouts to Ashton Gate last season and could prove a destination, too, depending on what happens in the race for Kieran Tierney. One deterrent is that the price tag is high for the talented Bryan, widely regarded as the jewel in the crown at Ashton Gate due to his good form and development last season, his rising through the ranks of the Bristol City academy and his off-pitch activities. Statistically, according to Opta data, the Bristolian ranked as the best left-back in the Championship last campaign. Bryan, of course, won the EFL Player in the Community for 2018 award, being a strong supporter of the Bristol City Community Trust, regularly engaging in player appearances at events such as holiday camps and so on. Off his own back, he has also supported a self-employed amateur footballer player with physio treatment following a severe injury and a local grassroots football club who had their pitches vandalised. As well as scoring that memorable opening goal against Manchester United in the Carabao Cup in 2017-18 he was also an ambassador for the Children’s Hospice South West for the second year running. We are told that Bryan has rejected several contract offers to stay at Bristol City though and will not be renewing his deal in BS3. With just a year remaining on his current deal the close friend of Bobby Reid is set to either be sold later this window or stay for one more year. We understand that there is a slim chance that he could remain at Ashton Gate and leave on a free transfer instead next summer. Club owner Steve Lansdown and CEO Mark Ashton will not want to see their best asset leave for nothing and so a climb-down on the prohibitive price tag is expected later in the window. Lansdown had cited the figure of £10m last summer, but less is demanded now with time running out for a lucrative sale. Our sources tell us that a move to the Premier League is most likely either in the remaining 38 days of the transfer window or summer 2019 instead. Further, we understand that Bryan is ambitious to play at the highest level he can. The one-time Plymouth Argyle loanee was tipped for England senior honours by former Bristol City coach John Pemberton earlier this summer. https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/exclusive-no-bids-bristol-citys-1743609
No definite or proven offers, bids or interest, what a suprise for our most valuable player asset, could be going very cut price.
I just hope we don’t see a repeat of the Maynard debacle. I’ve said on another post - Bryan when making an effort is a top top player, but he seemed (to me) to lose interest when we needed him the most - when we took a dip after Christmas. I would expect LJ to drop him if he won’t sign - like he did Flint whilst Birmingham were sniffing. That’s what I would do. No room in my team for a wannaway. The first team places belong to players who want to wear the shirt. But that’s me - I like loyalty.
Well to be fair if I was a Premiership or Championship manager and I wanted an out and out left back I certainly wouldn't pick JB, not a defender in my mind, left sided mid-field different story, but how many millions, 5 at the most.
The problem is Bryan like Maynard holds the cards. If Maynard went to Leicester when we accepted the bid then there would of not been this bad blood. I don’t blame us holding out for a fee we want not because JB says he’s too good for us anymore. The club will be damned if they will only sell him for what they think is the right price, or he goes for free next year. Just hope JB realises there ain’t much interest so try’s to impress by giving us one great season.
93% of Leeds fan polled voted in favour of Joe Bryan joining them. The asking price probably £10m. https://leeds.vitalfootball.co.uk/revealed-a-stunning-93-of-leeds-fans-want-this-deal-to-happen/ http://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2018/07/05/leeds-should-act-now-despite-report-on-joe-bryans-asking-price/
Joe Bryan - A Soccer Souls Blog ~ Why Burnley should beat Bournemouth to sign this versatile 21-goal Championship star by Raghavendra Goudar Why Burnley should beat Bournemouth to the signing of Bristol City’s Joe Bryan As per reports from the Mirror (h/t Bristol Post), Burnley are set to clash with fellow Premier League side AFC Bournemouth for the signature of Bristol City left-back Joe Bryan. The 24-year-old left-back had a stunning 2017/18 campaign for the Robins and has been linked with a move to Burnley for quite some time now. The Clarets will have to face competition now though, from Eddie Howe’s Bournemouth, along with a few Championship outfits as well. Burnley had a brilliant 2017/18 campaign that saw them finish 7th in the Premier League table and qualify for UEFA Europa League for the first time ever in the club’s history. It is a monumental achievement from Sean Dyche and his squad, especially considering how they were tipped to get relegated. Having made it to Europe, the Clarets would invariably want to strengthen their ranks in the summer to leave a mark on the continental competition and Bryan seems like a good choice. The Clarets have the experienced and the consistent Stephen Ward as their first-choice left-back, with the promising Charlie Taylor, who was signed from Leeds United last summer, as a back-up. However, with Ward not getting younger and Taylor not having the best of the debut campaigns at the club, it makes sense for Dyche to go for Bryan. Bryan came through the Bristol City academy and had loan spells away at Bath City and Plymouth before establishing himself as a first-team regular at the Ashton Gate. Till date, the full-back has gone on to feature 229 times for the Robins, scoring 21 goals in the process and registering 29 assists. In the previous campaign, the Englishman found the back of the net on 7 occasions and set up 3 more in 48 appearances across all competitions and was one of the best left-backs in the English second division. Bryan was also extremely impressive in the Robins’ Carabao Cup semi-final run this season, scoring against Manchester United along the way. Strong and dependable at the back, Bryan has proven to be an astute defender and backs it up with great attacking intent. Good at reading situations, his positioning allows him to make crucial interventions and he is a strong tackler as well. Moreover, he is extremely pacey, which allows him to recover when caught out of position or hare down the flank and join the attack when needed. please log in to view this image His pace and dribbling abilities, coupled with quality end product means he has the ability to play in a more advanced role on the left-wing as he did on a number of occasions in the 2017/18 season with great impact. Signing the 24-year-old would not only provide more depth at left-back for Burnley but he would also add more options on the flanks, given his ability to play in the attack as well. Bryan has demonstrated that he is ready to make the step up to Premier League football and has all the necessary ingredients to make an immediate mark as Burnley’s left-back. With Robbie Brady suffering a serious injury last season, he will need time to recover completely and add to that, the departure of Scott Arfield to Rangers on a free transfer, the Clarets could also use the 24-year-old in an advanced position. Signing Bryan would invariably strengthen their squad in multiple positions and that is why they should act fast to beat Bournemouth and the other competitors to sign him up at the earliest. https://soccersouls.com/2018/07/07/...ign-this-versatile-21-goal-championship-star/
Just pay us the £10m, we have got to learn to move on, good luck to the fella he has done well for us, he won't sign a contract up to now, he is obviously ambitous, so thanks Joe and cheerio..
They are starting to annoy me now , either sign a new contract and knuckle down or move on and allow us time to get a replacement. As you put it thanks and cheerio to both Joe and Marlon.
