Well thats it all ties with us are cut http://metro.co.uk/2013/02/16/joe-allen-insists-no-regrets-over-summer-liverpool-move-3480447/? He's looking forward as we should be .Right if he plays tomorrow no holds barred Mr De Guzman just pick his pocket or two
I agree Vetch, he's not going to say anything else really. I bet privately he's a bit jealous of those he left behind but you wouldn't expect him to say so.
I have been following joe's progress at liverpool since day one and ill tell you what its not a dip in form with him it as liverpool get better and better he has looked out of place and certainly not showing what a £15 million player should be like....I cant see him being a liverpool player if Brendan was to leave and he would not get into our side now. I really hope Brendan plays him against us as that would be the weakest link like last time and we can capitalize on him....I like him and have talked to him since he was a kid but i think liverpool will blow him out as soon as they recruit in the summer and he will be banished to the reserves until they can sell him.....A bridge to far too soon for the lad...
I feel sorry for him. He couldn't say no, what young player would. But he's suffering atm, and as much as I don't want to say it, I hope he plays tomorrow because he will make it easier for us.
there was no way he could say no when dalglish made a move for him but watching his progress then i cant see him being a regular. the fans are not happy with his contribution for a player who cost as much as he has cost them.....
I'd love him back. Was definitely the right move for him at the time - treble wages with a baby on the way, what sane person wouldn't? - but I fear we are step to far for young joe ourselves now. I mean who could he replace? Britton - cant do his job, no one can! Michu - no, just no. De Guzman - such a good creative midfielder who is capable of some of the best inch perfect passes and deliveries I ever did see and is also getting stronger and stronger in he tackle... As you can tell I really rate him Ki - getting better every game, will be our new Britton I feel once he steps down. Also has a mean shot! Allen would definitely still have a part to play, but I really can't see him shifting any of these players, give or take ki.
I wondered how Joe would fit into the lopsided Liverpool team, and it seems he is struggling to get to grips with players, who are technically inferior to what he has been used too, but then surely he must have known he was going to a side in decline, full of has beens, and yesterdays men! Oh well you make your bed you lie on it!...............
I cried myself to sleep at night in a naked cold sweat after reading some of the criticisms on here of him earlier on in the season! I didn't comment, just kept myself to myself, and wept violently.
Keeps using the word "massive" ... A "Brendanism" through and through. Keep believing the blarney, it will help to soften the bench burn. Went to 'Pool to play for a mechanic who can't teach him anything instead of giving himself the opportunity to learn from an artisan like Laudrup. That's not long term thinking that's very myopic short term thinking. Blarney is catching it seems. Agree with what others have said. At this point Allen would have to work extra hard to make our team if he came back because we do not function as a pack of rigid robots anymore, we have more flair and and ML has more trust in his players to express themselves. Having said that Allen is young enough and talented enough to learn and raise his game - but the apprenticeship would have to be served. I don't see what he is going to learn and how he is going to develop at 'Pool. Who is going to take the time to mentor him - he is now in his "asset years" and is measured up there by what he does. BR thinks he has found a "solution" and it's doesn't include Allen as a primary component - at this time and over the past few games. Lets face it they haven't won a game in a while and he isn't being selected - does not instill confidence does it.
He's been really rubbish since he moved. Hope he gets better next season but I dont see it happening.
I thought Joe was a 'tidy' player but no more than that and said so on here even before he left. In fact I thought his last season with us was pretty average. He's just not attack minded enough for today's Swans. Great at picking out a short pass across or back to a team mate but when did you ever see him make a killer through ball or score a cracker? Or drive past a player, jinking right and left? Very, very occasionally maybe. £15M was daylight robbery and most of us knew that.
For me, Joe has always been a link man helping to keep possession and keeping fluency in the play. That is essential to any team but £15 million worth of essential? Not for me. There has to be more in terms of goals and direct assists to justify that sort of fee.
I have a feeling joe will be surplus to requirements next season and liverpool will want to off load him. they will have to make a huge loss on him like they did with carrol and who in the premiership would want him.....you have to be playing regular for anyone to want you. maybe a championship club will buy him....
