    Academy and Player Recruitment vacancies.

The club is currently recruiting for two crucial roles within the football department: Academy Manager and Head of Player Recruitment.

Both successful applicants with report to the Board of Directors, with the Head of Player Recruitment also working closely with the first team manager.

The club is seeking a highly-motivated and professional individual with the ability to lead and manage a team of individuals for its Academy Manager vacancy.

The highest priority for the Academy Manager will be the achievement and retention of Category Two status for the Academy, along with the recruitment and development of young players.

In addition, there will be a requirement to implement a clear pathway of development from the Foundation phase through to the Professional phase.

The Head of Player Recruitment will be required to work under their own initiative yet also recruit and manage a team of full and part-time individuals.

The ability to develop and understand the detailed DNA of Bristol City FC and its players is a vital role.

The successful applicant will be responsible for ensuring detailed opposition analysis reports are produced in line with the first team manager’s requests.

The ability to communicate with a level of gravitas, expertise and confidence to the first team manager and directors in relation to all subjective player opinions is important.

Additionally, the Head of Player Recruitment will have excellent networking skills and have the ability to enhance current relationships whilst forging new partnerships that will improve the club’s reach.

Anyone interested in applying for either role should send an up-to-date CV and covering letter, either by e-mail to [email protected] or write to: Doug Harman, Executive Director, Ashton Gate Stadium, Ashton Road, Bristol, BS3 2EJ. Applications close on January 18th 2013.

So the post of Academy Manager will be the big chief of the whole Academy. for the future of our club, this is a very significant appointment.
And likewise if I'm reading it correctly, a Head of Player Recruitment for the whole club, not just the Academy. This is the person, with a team of scouts etc., to be created to find the talent for Bristol City and supply whoever is in charge of the Football side, at present a Manager, but in future could be called Head Coach of Football.
This is a radical shift in finding new talent from byegone days when the Football Manager organised all of this activity via a chief scout, who was usually a very close friend of his or family member as with the Johnson's.
Whatever happens for the remainder of this season with the first team and that is vitally important, the base is being laid for a future at City that is aimed at much more certainty than the hit or miss methods of the past, both long time ago and much more recent. Steps in the right direction.

Yes i'm sure Yate and Congressbury are crawling with International class football coaches
    God help us !

No doubt we will find an option which will not cost a great deal of money, after all we need all our cash to pay Fontaine and Nyatanga's wages.

If you settle for Div 1 quality you will get Div 1 players, and this club will remain there for another 30 years.

Now I wonder, might one be me ?
Have I ever been wrong ?
Ok Yes, you've shamed me - possibly once.

Chris Wood (can't trap Cement) looks to be doing better than I ever thought.

    ROD - WTF is '50 micron's'.

'Can't trap a bag of cement' was attributed (allegedly) to the legendary Bill Shankly when talking about a player with a terrible first touch.

Or are you being deliberately obtuse.

No not being obtuse! (dont you find it annoying when people use the word obtuse?) But the saying is a bag of cement. I was just illustrating the size particle of a grain of cement.

50 microns is the approximate thickness of a polythene bag used for sandwiches or putting food into a freezer. so a grain of cement is a spherical object much smaller than that.

I would have applied myself but I know the board would rather go for someone inexperienced, clueless and probably from North of the border!!!
