Jimmy Tarbuck boost nearly galvanises Arbroath to victory over Hoops BUT even a good luck phone call from the noted entertainer wasn't enough to help the Second Division side stave off the SPL giants. THEY thought it might have been a wind-up but joking was put aside as Jimmy Tarbuck phoned to wish his old club Arbroath good luck on their big night. News had clearly spread about the Second Division shocktroops from the town famous for smokies who had made Celtic look like haddies. Arbroath became big news by holding the SPL champs to a 1-1 draw at Parkhead just under a fortnight ago and last nightâs replay was supposed to be a painful lesson in what happens if you upset the big boys. But the Angus side, boosted by the pre-match call from tubby Scouse comedian Tarbuck, nearly had the last laugh.Only a wonder goal separated the sides and if it werenât for a controversial disallowed equaliser then Paul Sheerinâs men could have pushed the Hoops all the way. It was the stuff of fairytales for the minnows who Tarbuck clearly still has a soft spot for. He trained with the club back in 1961 and also performed live at the local theatre as an up-and-coming talent before going on to hit the big time at the London Palladium. Tarbuck was famous for hosting quiz shows such as Winner Takes All. The tannoy played âWe are Sailingâ by celebrity Celtic fan Rod Stewart, which was apt for the small fishing town where a Scottish Cup tie with Motherwell once had to be abandoned because of gale-force winds. Itâs some time since Tarbuck strutted his stuff in the Angus town when he was far from a household name. But Paul Sheerinâs Arbroath players have proudly put the town on the map and after shooting to fame with two stars performances. http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/...jimmy-tarbuck-boost-nearly-galvanises-1487455
Jimmy Tarbuck Likes a Smokie So, all along the bold Jimmy was living next door to Alice, does operation yewtree know ?
What happens, if horror of horrors, they announce that all round leading entertainer Brucie "Toupee" Fivesyth is involved. That would be a cuddly toy too far. Good game, good game!!
I like how my previous articles have forced Dev into creating this in an attempt to stop me possibly highlighting the fact that Tarbuck was "celtic mad"
